Dan conner or James anderson?

Everyone has to remember, or maybe you don't know...Anderson has not signed his tender. He is holding out to see who else may be interested in him. His agent is giving him some indication that he may be able to do better. He also is not liking the fact that he feels that Connor is getting the push from the organization to play and be a spotlight on the team. He is at off season training this week, but not under any pay/insurance/guarantees.

Anderson is 100 times a better athlete than Connor. He tested a team best in Vertical/top 5 in 40 (of the players that ended up on the roster/and top 5 in the pro agility. He has had little to no injury and has proven to be quality with his experience.

Connor is broken (acl/labrum tears), average athleticism (at best), and silent. I have had very extensive contact with both of these players on the field and they are apples and oranges in every single aspect. I do not know much about the tactics of the position, but I do know everything about the physical/mental side and Anderson is one of the tops on the team in this aspect.

Just a perspective

nobodys going to give up a 3rd for James Anderson..lol

Anderson played the same game and had 9 tackles. Beason had 16.

So if you look at the tackles from the LB position it's Beason 16, Anderson 9, Connor 8.

Connor had 3 solo ST tackles so game tackles are Beason 16, Connor 11, Anderson 9.

Solo tackles from LB are Beason 9, Anderson 6, Connor 5.

here's what you have to know about this...connor lined up at the Sam and anderson lined up at Will. weakside gets more tackles in a tampa2. Sam is typically on the field 20-30 less snaps than MLB or WLB.

that particular game (pats) connor had 34 snaps to anderson's 77 (100% of snaps).

worth noting...diggs only had 3 games in which he logged in more than 5 tackles. meanwhile in those two games connor filled in for diggs he had 6 and 8.

sorry, but 1) i'm not concerned with losing diggs all that much an 2) connor will win that job more than likely.

anderson will be used a good bit but in a wider range of roles.

Anderson relies more on speed and quickness to be effective, while Connor is more stout and instinctive.

Connor is also far more athletic than many here give him credit for. The notion that he is more of an MLB came from his pre-workout draft prospects when the so called guru's questioned if he was athletic enough to play the outside. And since then, the idea has taken hold. Yet, whenever he has played SLB, whether it was pre-season or filling in for Diggs, I can't recall him ever looking out of place or unable to play the position.

Connor played on the outside his first three years at Penn State. He also broke tackle records there, and is considered to be one of their best ever. Go look at the names on that list.

He was ahead of Mayo on draft boards before the combine, when he ran a slow 40. But his shuttle drills were great, and 40 times don't measure how quick you can react to a play and start moving in the right direction. For perspective, his 40 was as fast as Beason's, and no one's ever accused Beason of being slow. :)

i just don't see why people are making such a big deal about who starts at a spot that is only on the field for half of the defensive plays.

connor will step in just like he did for diggs and will do a good job. he'll do better than diggs.

anderson, if he signs his tender, will fill in and do well with what he does. he'll back up davis and be brought in on different packages and still have 20+ snaps a game.

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
