Problem in NBA

Did anyone see the highlights to the Hawks Magic game? End of the game and Magic need one stop to win the game. They defend the perimeter well and the shot is off, but Rashard Lewis and Jameer Nelson simply stand there and let josh smith slide in between them and dunk the put back.

Always amazes me how professionals/millionaires who have played the game their entire lives can make these mistakes. Really this type of laziness is a big reason why the USA didn't win Gold in 2004.

I know sometimes guards on the Bobcats don't help rebound when it looks like they should be, but they definitely put forward better effort than I saw from Nelson and Lewis. They both had perfect position and just stood there straight up, not using their arms or lower body but just watching. Lewis does attempt to jump for the board, but had he and Nelson used proper technique, Smith gets an over the back call and probably misses the putback.

That highlight is the epitome of why the NBA sucks...

1) Obvious traveling that was not called.

2) Lazy ass defense.

3) Standing around watching the rebound.

Yeah it was a cool dunk play to end the game, but all the other aspects of that play were crappy basketball.

Ok for real, yea it was a bad play on the Magic's part for not blocking out. But I do not blame them, there is less then a second left and Smith is standing at the frickin three point line. Only a handful of players can pull that one off IMO.

All eyes were on Johnson so Smith had an open lane for the dunk.

Just a mental lapse on the part of Nelson and Lewis. It should'nt have happened, I remember in grade school learning to always box out, but it happened. They'll be fine. Always gotta make sure a bodys on Smith in that situation. Kid is a beast.

Problem in the NBA, is the horrible officiating which comes off almost rigged, a lot. That and superstars getting all the fouls all the time.

Well a good thing about the NBA is that we have the top athletes in the world and get to see amazing players go head 2 head every night. Had to bring some postive thing to this thread.
