He said in his first post that this is an unrealiable rumour. Unless he's said something after that about it being "solid" your not being fair.

I guess one word can throw off the meaning of my post….. The word “solid” was thrown in there because of his comments that Harris is an average safety and his remark about how he wouldn’t make the trade.

I was just posting his source after Mr. Scott noted earlier in the thread that a message board is not a reliable source for trade interest.

Harris is an above average safety and I want the Panthers to draft T.J. Ward out of Oregon who is a carbon copy of Chris Harris. Ward to play in the Secondary from one of the best in Jairus Byrd.

The whole point of this thread was to see if anyone had heard anything about a possible trade here. I guess not. Like I said it was likely just a rumor.

As for Chris Harris being an avg safety, I say that thinking Polomalu is top tier, Dawkins is an above avg player, Harris is in the middle. I am not knocking him. He is better than the rookies we played last year, and would start on most teams. The value now adays goes to safties with good range and coverage skills. Harris isn't really known for them.

The thing that annoyed me is how a few people here were taking shots at Alex Brown when he has been one of the most admirable and consitent players around Chicago. He has solid numbers and that doesn't even take in to account his leadership values. It's crazy to claim he isn;t as good as that dude Brayton. (look at their numbers). To clarify, he is going to be released anyway because he plays the same possition as our new top 5 RDE Peppers, and was set to earn $5M which needs to be freed to make a run at a FS (not a SS) i.e. Sharper/Atogwe.

As for Cutler, I have no idea why that was brought up, but I would take him over Delhomme or Moore anyday. We ranked 31st in the run last year so teams sat back in coverage all day and ate our neophyte receivers for dinner.

I will leave by saying Brown is a better Dlineman than anyone who plays for CAR now. I hope you guys don't sign him because if you will treat an elite DE like Peppers poorly, I can only imagine how you would treat a DE who's only good.

you just went from friendly visitor to nincompoop.

I guess paying a DE a million a game and bending over backwards while fugging your teams depth is treating him poorly. Please! Word of advice Chicago fans......don't come crying here when you get at most 1 good year out of that monster contract....

ROFL!!! Since '03...

Brayton has 15.5 sacks - 13 Pdefs - 1 int - 5 FF

Brown has 41 sacks - 33 Pdefs - 5 ints - 13 FF

Brown is more than twice the player!

One problem right there: the Raiders move him around a lot. If they kept him as the DE ever since he came there along with better coaches & such, his record would've look a lot better than you point out. Sorry, but you fail there.

Harris is an average safety.

Still jealous your Bares gave him away to us? If he was still playing up there, you wouldn't even call him average. You just can't get over it.

And you mention we won't treat a new elite DE fairly like we did to Pep? LMAO! You don't know what you're talking about. We treat him fairly by offering him a long-term contract that would make him the highest paid DE in the NFL 2 yrs. ago. And what did Pep do? He turn it down!! Thus, he treat us like crap, not us. You fail again. :smilielol5: :smilielol5:

I hope many of you Bears fans not buy into that "Our team didn't have a good RB & it why Cutler look bad with no WRs" crap. I hate to say this, but Cutler was bad even during his last year with better WRs in the Broncos. He still isn't that great, even when he have good WRs or not. Glad we didn't get him & Moore will be better than him. He won't whine for the wrong reason either. :D

This is funny poo.

Huddle logic, March 2010: Chris Harris is a good safety, Bears stupid to trade him, team leader.

Huddle logic, April 2010: Chris Harris is over the hill with a diminishing skill set, possible team cancer, lucky to get anything for him. Worse than Godfrey (just lol)

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
