unnamed team is reportedly attempting to trade up to the Raiders' No. 8

We've traded with the Raiders before under the Fox regime...

That said, I still don't think it is us...

What was the trade? Was late round picks last year right? I didn't remember it until you said it...

Well, then my conspiracy theory doesn't apply lol.

If the brass hadn't already given their endorsement to Moore then I'd be all over us doing this but it seems that they are fixated on going in with Matt Moore as the starter and probably a 3rd or 4th rounder as his backup.

There aren't any WRs worth taking that high...and the DTs won't drop that far. Thus...makes NO sense for the Panthers.

some incredible news i'd say. given our history, i wouldn't be surprised if it were us. but i still don't think it'll happen. but speculation wise... we'd take bryant, no doubt. or golden tate, but i personally haven't been impressed with golden tate's highlight reels. and i'm still really big on brandon lafell who we could get at 48 anyway.

or we could take a DE, which i wouldn't be completely against, but i'd definitely have my doubts heading into the season. considering we picked up a DE last year and he only had, what, 2 sacks last season. so if we did trade up to get a DE, the production would come a year or two later.

:sosp: Are you a complete moron are what. Everrt brown only a few sacks last year because he played only a hand full of downs last year per game as a backup. Even a full time starter DE in the league avgs 12-16 sacks a season. Once brown becomes a full time starter he will avg 10-13 sacks per season. But you act like he must avg 10 sacks last year just as a backup. How dumb can you be bro.:eek6:

I would be fine with trading our 2nd and next years 1st for the number 8.

Think about this. Getting the 8 then trading back (someone is going to be real tempting for other teams there I bet) to mid 1st picking up a 2nd. Then we could either pick there or maybe trade for 2 2nds.

Either way if you can trade back and still have a 2nd then all you really did is trade a 1st straight up for a 1st. And we always finish at least in the middle of the pack so you know it wouldn't be any higher then 13-14.

this. same thing I was thinking. trade up for #8, then trade to someone like the Giants who want Rolando McClain bad, and want to make sure that Miami or Denver doesnt get him. then have a pick in every round besides the 5th. the question is...who would we pick if we did that? Derrick Morgan, Jason Pierre-Paul, Dez Bryant, Demaryius Thomas, Golden Tate, Sean Weatherspoon? the list goes on and on. +rep

To add to the list of why it's not us - the talking heads are starting to speak of Bryant's stock falling after his pro day. That could push back when other recievers start getting drafted, allowing us to have a better chance of landing someone like Tate. Thats IF his stock falls and IF he still was the first reciever taken....

That being said, I wouldn't mind if we traded up, traded back down later into the first, allowing us to acquire THE player we want and not over paying for him.

In that trade there 1st, 2nd and 5th would be equal value to the 8th. With the 20th I think Golden Tate makes a lot of sense. Brandon Graham is another choice that would make sense.

Hurney's going out guns blazing...

Trade next year's first and this year's second to Oakland for their first...

Trade next year's second and third to someone else for a pick in round 2...

Trade the rest of next year's picks for an extra 4th...

so full of win right here ^ lmao!

    • I do think the rating is fair given how this unit hasn’t proven it with production. I understand you have to rank off production, not potential. However, our unit is also in a position to make this rating look foolish a year from now. We have 4 guys in the WR/TE room who all could legitimately take the next step this year, and catapult our rank. A guy under a lot of people’s radar after we took Tet, Jalen Coker. Mark my words, he will become the star of this room, and be the heir to Thielen.
    • Exactly. You’d think 2-7 wins a year (in a 17 game season no less) since 2017 is going to keep us bottom tier. Every year we say the same poo like we haven’t been a bad team the past 7 years. Until we prove we aren’t a bottom dweller, that’s where we’ll stay ranked. God forbid we have OL injuries like 2016.
    • What I love and hate about this team is it’s more filled with potential breakout players than ever before. JT, XL, Coker, Smith-Wade, Ikem, Trevin… and even Bryce are all guys I could legitimately see taking the next step. But the problem with having so many of those guys is that team success somewhat relies on them taking that step, and some are bound not to. That being said, I’m cautiously optimistic given our softer schedule, the way the offense clicked late last year, and the direction we finally have at GM, coach, and QB. Could see us as a sneaky playoff team.
