Hymans - good but extremely touristy (tour buses, etc).

Another good one. I know it gets sort of a bad rap from locals because it is so touristy, but it's pretty decent for some good fried food. It's a fun environment -- they've got a cool gift shop with boiled peanuts and ice cream downstairs, and all of the tables have small plaques that relay which famous person sat in that seat.

bring a pallet of sunscreen

Yeah, I know.

Not ideal, but getting all the schedules to coordinate was a nightmare.

It does provide for waterpark mayhem, which my kids love, plus the beaches should be good to go, so it works out for us.

Is that the diner where the road bends to the left after Shem Creek? If so I will drive 30 minutes to get there for breakfast. mmmmmm

Yeah, I think we are talking about the same place. Was an old DQ and has the barn shape.

That would be Alex's. If the name hasn't changed.

Just an FYI, the Noisy Oyster used to be an Applebee's if that tells you anything. And we dropped in one time last year for a quick lunch and it made my SIL violently ill.
