Is there a WR in the 2nd that is better than Brandon Marshall?

Recommended Posts

not to beat a dead horse, but it seems that Denver isnt getting much interest in him now, and the asking price could be lower. our 2nd could possibly get him. so i am wondering which WR in the 2nd we could honestly draft that could become the type of player he already is? he is young, strong (good blocker, essential in replacing moose), has good hands and plays hard when motivated.

Of course there are the off-field issues, but that could be fixed with a change of scenery and surrounding him with new teamates that wont take his crap (smitty and beason come to mind).

i know it is a long shot with the panthers only going after guys with a clean slate, but from a football perspective you cant do much better with that pick. we have the cap room to sign him, and our young guys. just thought i would beat this dead horse a little more....

It would be a risky move but landing Marshall would put us over the top, barring that Marshall fits in with the Panthers. You really couldn't stop our offense.

Yep been saying this all offseason. Panthers O + Marshall = "Championshp"

No there is not.But plenty with less headaches

agreed, but this is a football team, not a boy scout troop. Marshall is immature, or atleast has been, in the way he handled the new coaching staff and other things in his pro career. but maybe surrounding him with the right kind of people, in a new place would help him create a new image for himself. or, it could backfire and he turnout to be a true moron for the rest of his time in the league.

but most of his issues stem from feeling underpaid and or under appreciated. being traded for a 2nd would no doubt put a chip on his shoulder as motivation to prove everyone wrong about his ability and character.

i just dont want to blow another 2nd round pick on the next colbert, jarret or carter. this staff has proved they cannot develop young WR's, so why not bring in someone that is already great?

i am not an advocate of this, just looking to see what everyone thinks.

exactly, we need to give Moore all the weapons we can to allow him to succeed. giving a relatively in-experienced QB a rookie WR at the #2 spot is not the best idea in the world.

Gotta remember if we trade for him we might only have him for one year. Gotta work out an extension and you never know if he would want to play for us.

I'd like to bring him in, but I understand the front offices hesitation.

i'm thinking the reason that he was such a headache was that the broncos had a coach that would rather get into pissing matches with him (mckid) instead of a coach who could give him proper guidance and direction (shanny)...keeping the prick within contained so that he could focus his energy on doing his job.

you had some problems with cutler and marshall while shanny was there but nothing at the level that came when mckid came along.

you put marshall on a team that can control problem children (which i believe the panthers can do) and you will have something special.

I am. I don't think anyone we could draft or pickup combined could bring the kind of playmaking ability of Marshall. It would really bring our O into the 21st century. I do believe Fox will be more inclined to air it out with Moore then with Jake if he continues the way he played at the end of the season.

Trade our 2nd for him. Sign Alex Brown and use our 3rd on Torrell Troup to give us some solid NT depth (I actually think he would beat out Leonard).

well said....

my only concern would be how smitty and marshall would interact. marshall could have the tremendous respect for smitty, after all they are about as opposite as you can get receiver wise. marshall may learn a few things about hard work and what it takes to succeed from playing with him.

but they could also get in a pissing match about who got the ball more. This being a run first team there isnt much to go around, he may get 70 catches, but not 100+ like he is used to in Denver. i could see that being an issue. but then again, if he gets paid with an extension, he may be fine with less wear and tear on his body.

Do we have a new owner?

This player isn't a Richardson player.

Just saying.

How many SB have we one with this approach? Say what you want we have been mediocre since inception. Good one year bad the next 1 or 2.

I am not advocating becoming Jerry Jones or Dan Snyder but when a superstar in a position of need becomes available for a 2nd round pick your crazy for not at least attempting a trade. Through all his problems off the field his play on the field has never been effected. And while not a model team player he wasn't much of a distraction before McDaniels was hired.

you've convinced me :D

I would like to see it, just doubt it happens due to the conservative nature of the FO. but then again, we have seen a slight departure from the norm this off season with the recent purge of vets and overpriced guys. could be making room for some better young talent like marshall.
