Wish there was a good place in Charlotte to get them.....

I will say again, I wish there was a good place in Charlotte to get them...... (somebody help a brotha out)

Only place I have ever ordered them has been at Hickory Tavern down in Steele Creek. And they aren't any good.

Generally speaking I wouldn't expect to find it or even bother ordering it more than 50 miles from the coast.

Edit for scrum: which is precisely why I haven't gotten it at the flying biscuit. I do like their southern scramble a lot, though.

Rock Bottom has passable shrimp n grits.

131 has pretty good ones.

And just for jase...FLYING BISCUIT CAFE...which is now open on Park Rd. (a thread should be devoted to that nexus of doucheness).

Rock Bottom? Really?

I make some good ones at the house. I bought some great local grits from The Peach Stand two weeks ago.

Paula Dean has a great S&G recipe as well.

Take some country ham, and run it through a food processor until it's fine, but not powder. Add that to the gravy. And, yes, you have to use good grits, not Quaker Quick Grits. That's just wrong.
