Two things I think are underrated in life are touchbacks and fruit smoothies. Todd Carter can deliver them both.

At this time last year, Carter was working at the Tropical Smoothie Cafe, blending up Chocolate Chillers and Bahama Mamas for minimum wage. Today, he is a kicker for the Carolina Panthers, making $320,000 on a one-year deal. A pittance by NFL standards, but a mark rarely reached in the smoothie industry.

Love the story.. kind of brings me perspective to a new-found friend in my job who is trying out for Canadian, Arena, and NFL teams as a punter... Had a big contract at one time but broke his leg.. being in sales, the guys kind of snickered about this dude following his dreams..

the ironic thing is most sales people preach walking the "less than traveled path" and yet they can't understand this type of situation...

I'm pulling for Mr Carter....

however, as for the Panthers, I'm hoping our starters and current backups kick the ass of any other camp fodder type players...

I wonder how hard you would have to work to become, say, a WR? Lots of YouTube videos I suppose... pick-up games... who knows?

I'm planing on playing running back and I'm training by going downtown daily and running head on shoulder level in and out through the crowds of people getting on and off the metro train during rush our. If I get there fast enough to snag a seat on the train I scream touch down.

    • I presented that scenario because this is a home game and we seemed to have improved in some capacity in that area as of recently. The problem with the possibility of sweeping the Bucs is this team has had a habit of quickly falling victim to momentum shifts. The Bucs are coming off a bitter loss the same as the Panthers but the Bucs have a much better proven track record this time of year and they have performed when the pressure is on unlike our Panthers. We have a shot against the Seahawks here in BOA but that is a matchup that could quickly get out of hand because they are a well coached team and that goes back to the momentum shifts I mentioned. I just don't see this team beating the Bucs in their stadium to close the season. Tall order to say the least.
    • I’d give it another year for Sanders and Evans, I don’t much care what you do with Tremble’s spot. Let him have another year or maybe replace him. Haven’t looked at his contract so that may be the determining factor.
    • Following the crazy up down pattern we finish 9-8 with an improbable sweep of TB, and lay an egg in the home playoff game.  I don’t know if I can sign on to sweeping TB but I suppose it’s possible, they aren’t really that good this year.    ps I can buy beating TB Sunday and losing to Seattle.  Then it just gets to can you fluke one game. Any given Sunday. So we’ll see.
