seriously?

People who say we are so good that we dont need Santonio are just as bad as the people screaming we should have traded for him.IMO

Nowhere did I say we don't need a good receiver. But I did say - and still do -that i would take a rookie with no baggage over a guy who's been arrested three times in three years.

we don't need santonio holmes. we need a WR that is going to show up, stay clean, and not get suspended for a season.

we need a better WR. holmes isn't that. we DO NOT want to have to rely on him. we are much better off without that headache even without adding anyone (which we will be).

you can not overlook the risk involved...even for a 5th rounder. evidently 29 teams in the league feel the same way...probably would have been more if the steelers had called their division rivals.

teams don't want that guy on their rosters.

The mathematical answer would be 27.

Not every team has Kenneth Moore and Dwayne Jarrett as their #2 and #3.

Steelers moved Holmes quickly at a time when teams are usually avoiding any player transactions and instead waiting until after the draft. They moved him to a great team that played for an AFC Championship last year.

With his talent and for a 5th round pick..thats worth the risk.I understand us not going for him but to say we dont "need" a good WR is crazy at only 26.

yeah, who would want that guy? off the field problems or not, you're just delusional if you wouldn't 'rent' this guy for 12 games(possibly more with playoffs) for a damn 5th round pick. That's what the Jets did. They got a 26 year old super bowl MVP, clutch receiver coming off a 1300 yard/10 touchdown season for a 5th round pick.

with that said, I do understand why we didn't get him, and am not mad or frustrated they didn't make a trade. just sayin', I'd also be 100% fine if they had gotten him even if it was only for a season.

No, you need to get a clue, and so does everyone else who thinks the Panthers should have picked him up.

He's suspended 4 games of 16, which means he's going to miss a quarter of the season (25% - that's a lot). It's possible he will have more suspension time and could eventually get jail time. He's had a rough history and it's likely he wants to be a star wherever he goes (Read: not a good fit here). What else do I have to add? Hell, the first one is reason enough not to trade a 5th for him when there are so many WR's so deep into the draft.

I see you didn't anwser the question because you already no the anwser. But I'll ask again. What 5th round pick you or anybody else knows gives you production in the 1st 4 games or the 1st season or the 2nd season of their career. Better then that what Panther 5th round pick in 15-16 years has been a impact in the 1st 4 games or his 1st season, 2nd season, poo even 3rd season? Name me one I'll wait. TICK TOCK TICK TOCK. Anybody else you can play this game too. TICK TOCK TICK TOCK. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Well let me explain this if you can't name ANYBODY then that covers your risk poo. The reward totaly out weights the risk. If gets him self straight you have a MVP type WR. IF he fails then guess what cut him you olny lose a 5th ROUND PICK!!!!!!!

Do you not see the math. PLus I don't know if people around here don't this but no team wins with all Alter Boys. You need some thugs mixed in too make your team tough.

rams weren't interested

raiders weren't interested

seahawks weren't interested

chiefs weren't interested

bills weren't interested

bucs weren't interested

redskins weren't interested

bears weren't interested

titans weren't interested

dolphins weren't interested

jags weren't interested

you would have a hard time convincing me that the panthers have worse WR situations than the these teams.

Tell that to the team that decided Plaxico Burress was "worth the risk".

The Panthers avoid guys with character issues for a reason.
