Demani Richardson has played nearly 25% of the defense snaps this season with several starts playing in 12 games.

Good point--let's take the person who some feel needs no further evaluation:  Richardson  Do you know which safety position he played?  How would he do at the other S position?  Big Nickel?  Nickel?  For example. How would Farley do at S?  Nickel?  Etc.  Jones?  What do you know about him?  We know more about Richardson than others, but how versatile is he?  Can he play other spots?  That is what this opportunity gives you.  I do not understand the argument to NOT take a look at some players before making offseason decisions about them.

Another reason you do this:  Experience for the players.  Injuries are something you must plan for in the NFL.  While Richardson may never be a starter, if he has experience at Nickel, SS, FS--he could become a more valuable reserve.

In college, I started off as an outside LB--before the last week of practice, they gave me reps at TE.  They threw me a pass during the final game.  In spring practice, I was moved to TE. That brief experience in a game at TE was important.  The coaches told me that they wanted to get the "taste of blood" in my mouth, but they evaluated the 10 plays and critiqued my blocking, route running, stance, etc.  It gave them some talking points --things to work on--before spring practice. If you have no recent film on Raym or Farley at S or Richardson at nickel, etc. why not take a look?  A: there is no reason.  I realize that college and the NFL are very different, but I also realize that the best organizations have the "next man up" philosophy and they tailor their approach to the skill sets of their players--not the other way around.

Rivera would get us eliminated and then he would play to win at all costs; he was insecure about his record, in my opinion.

Take the evaluation to a new level--the playoff teams cannot do this--we can.

I bet it is confusing to some--the idea of evaluating talent, collecting data, and providing experience to young players.  Now stop being a child and learn how to voice intelligent opinions without taking it so personally.  Do you have that capability?

Emotional?  Hardly--but your post is yet another meritless personal attack, suggesting that you are suffering from some degree of hostility which is silly. You seem to be incapable of intelligent discourse because you offer no counter intelligent opinion or reasons why this is, using your extended vocabulary, "dumb." Your response "let the coaching staff handle it"  assumes that is not part of the equation and could apply to EVERY topic on this forum.  In other words, "you got nothing." Yet I clearly and repeatedly stated that this would be a tool for the coaches and front office to use during the off season. So I was saying the coaches would handle this--comprehend?  Who else would handle it?   Stop trolling.  Share your opinion and allow others to have their own.  Since what I have suggested is done frequently in the NFL--I was only suggesting certain players--your perspective is ripe with naivete (Google it) and without any supporting rationale.

A simple Google demonstrates this:  image.thumb.png.db71c892f0569b1e9499d124440fb0f9.png

BOY THOSE NFL TEAMS ARE DUMB.

Lol. Right. I am the emotional one. I make one sentence and one meme gif and you write a novella on how upset you are that I don't see the logic(nor does the coaching staff) in playing a lot of these 5th string players.

Keep in mind this is in a season in which PS players have started multitudes of games. Think maybe, IDK, there could be a logical reason for that?

No, no, I am sure you are much more equipped than an NFL coaching staff that sees these players every single day of practice for months on end to determine PT for literally guys barely hanging on to a roster spot behind your keyboard.

Carry on keyboard warrior!

Another personal attack--you can't see yourself, can you?  Petty.

    • or you could call him Bomanicious   I'm going with King Tet
    • T-Mac put up good numbers for 3 consecutive seasons on teams without a good QB situation, and in an environment where T-Mac got game planned against weekly and still performed. Teams threw all kinds of defensive coverages against T-Mac, and he still found ways week in and week out to contribute at a high level. XL was basically a 1-year wonder. Doesn't mean he cant be great (and I think him & T-Mac will compliment each other well), but i think T-Mac is the more polished of the 2 right now. This certainly isn't a perfect comparison, but I hope XL & T-Mac can approximate what we had with Smitty & Moose (Although i think T-Macs ceiling is higher than Moose and XLs ceiling is lower than Smitty). Both those guys were multiple Pro Bowlers and even All-Pro. T-Mac & XL have a long way to go to actually being comparable, but the potential is there. And regardless of how this season turns out, you can actually see a strategic plan being executed. On paper, I think this offensive roster has as much talent as any Panthers team since 2017. Defense is still a question mark, and it's unrealistic to think we will go from being historically bad to great in 1 year, but based on historical and statistical data, we stand a much better chance of turning the defense around in 1 year than the offense. I still want us to potentially add at S, CB, and ILB, but this roster is exponentially better than the roster heading into the 2023 season. Which still begs the question of how & why the team thought they were in a good position to trade all the way up. Regardless, it's in the past, and while the past 2 years have mostly sucked, we are strategically in a much better position than we have been in years. This is easily the best WR group since 2020 IMO (Moore, Anderson, Samuel). I'm super excited about what T-Mac can bring to this offense and team, and I'm really hoping we continue to build off where we ended last year offensively, and hopefully we've made enough improvements on defense to be competitive. I've also been vocal for the most part in supporting BY9. He came into an awful situation and to a team that was in no position to make such a trade.   Still, this is Year 3. And this is a team that IMHO has both the talent & depth on offense to score and score a lot. Most QBs that ever amount to anything are competing by Year 3. There are no excuses for the offense not to perform. I think BY9 knows full well what's riding on this year in terms of his long term future.  And I think T-Mac is a massive piece in helping Bryce and the team get over the hump and back into playoff contention.
