Chances are Benn could be there at 48' date=' thats why I'm predicting we trade our first next year for an early second this year grab Griffen and then take Benn with the 48.[/quote']

That would be great. I just really hope Benn is there at 48.

I don't think it will happen, and I may be in the minority, but if we do trade up to get Clausen, then I will be thrilled. As much as I like Moore, even if he maxes out his potential, I don't think he is anywhere near Clausen's level. I know some here think he will bust, but based on what I saw from him in the several ND games I watched this year, I feel he is going to be a special QB in the NFL.

With that said, if we did trade up, I wouldn't use either our 2nd or 3rd round picks to do it since we still need a WR and DL (they are clearly our first priority). Our #1 next year and maybe this year's 4th would probably be fair.

I don't know why some people want us to move up to take either Kindle or Griffen. The team obviously is VERY high on Brown, and most here have talked about how Johnson is poised to breakout. But if we trade up to get a top DE, then that effectively takes either Brown or Johnson out of the picture as one of our starting DE's of the future...and likely for only a moderate difference in production.

If we trade up, IMO, it will be for a DT, WR, or QB. We can address our need for a rotational DE a little later in the draft or even in the post-draft wave of FA.

Well, 32 teams passed on Matt Moore for all seven rounds, so what's the point?

Don't get me wrong, I like Moore, but I don't see him as anything more than a solid game manager. And if he is who we have, I am fine with him starting...even long-term. With the offense as we have seen it, all we need is a game manager, but I truly believe Clausen would bring a level of explosiveness to the passing game that we haven't ever really seen here in Carolina (except for one pass-happy year in '99). And while I know some will say Fox would never open things up, I would disagree. I think Fox tries to coach to his player's and team's strength's and hide weaknesses, so if he had a QB with Clausen's accuracy and decision-making, he would expand the offense to take advantage of it....but that's just my opinion, and since we most likely won't pick him, we'll probably never really know.

I don't really listen to what he says, but I thought it was slightly funny and everyone here would get a kick out of it.

Pete Prisco has us taking Cam Thomas, DT from UNC with the 48th pick now....Here's the kicker Both Benn and Tate are still on the board when we pick in his 2nd round mock. Other Notables still available Taylor Mays and Carlos Dunlap.

    • I said the conservative play calling was because Canales doesn't think we can win shootouts. Yes, I did say part of that was because of the young, inexperienced receivers and that the OL is better suited for run blocking. I should have also included Young as part of the reason as well but I was responding to the post concerning "young receivers" and Thielens' absence. I am not so enamored with Young that I think all his problems are simply because of the receivers. I do think they overpaid for him and he has not lived up to the cost. He has had his struggles, as does pretty much every rookie qb thrown into a bad situation. But I have seen enough good things to have hope that he continues to get better. The OP is just pointing out how his performance late in the games when the game is on the line is one of those good things.
    • I think it goes both ways  It could be they are used to pocket passers, not someone who constantly has to create throwing zones for himself with pocket movement  point being, whether it is Young or the receivers or the sun or the moon or the wind, can’t win in the nfl without the threat of a downfield attack
