Prediction: Jimmy Clawesome starts week 1

Panthers have publically stated that Moore is the starter. JC will have to unseat him, which is doubtful by opening day.

This, unless Moore gets hurt in training camp he will get the start. i would imagine it would take atleast 4 or 5 weeks of poor playing to get him pulled. but im not sure it depends on how bad he played. i hope he plays well personally, there is nothing better in football to me than having a high quality QB setting behind a guy playing so good you cant pull him. that is a luxury we have never seen and i would love to see it.

im going on evil jester, did you not see matt's 300yards 21/33 3TDS 0int and a QB rating of 123.2? What more do you want? C mon' man where you drunk off your ass or something?

I saw and am glad he did well. but he's not the future of the franchise. Ryan did well and led his team to the playoffs.

Why wait? Why sit him for 2 or 3 years? He's familiar with the system so he's 70% ahead of the game. The rest he will pick up in training camp and preseason. I honestly feel he'll be 90% as good as Moore by week one, and if allowed to start, would be better than Moore by week 3 or 4. Then, next year, he'll be lightyears ahead of Moore. But if we sit him a year, then that's a years worth of on the field training and experience lost. How many more years will we have smitty? Double Trouble together? We're currently 2 or 3 players away from a superbowl. One of those players is a franchise QB. I have no faith in Moore taking us to the superbowl.

(by the way, last year I used an "anti" jake username like you. actually created it the week after the Arizona loss the year before but created this new one now that he's finally gone!)

Starting a rookie QB is a bad idea.

Unless you have an elite receiver, two elite backs, a mammoth offensive line, and a top 10 defense from last year.

If we think Clausen is our guy, why not start him now? He doesn't benefit from NOT playing. If this is a rebuilding year, go ahead and let Jimmy get his growing pains out this season rather than next.

Why is matt not the future of the franchise? What has he done wrong to make you think this? Because he looked as good as any one would out there. How much better could he have done? If we would have put matt in after the bills game we could have made it to the playoffs!

I think you need to go look at his stats from last year and some of those highlights too you must have forgotten. Dont get me wrong if matt fails jimmy is going to be the perfect person to come in but after matt did that damn good it would be ignorant and foolish to not give him a chance

matt moore is a great "game manager", when things go right he can get the job done. the question is can he put the team on his back when needed and win games, can he get us come from behind victories, right now we don't have answers to these and we need come to the realization that clausen is more talented than moore.

it's more than stats and moore will get his chance to start, i mean they are paying him close to 4 million dollars GURANTEED so it's not like he doing to bad. he also may have a future starting somewhere just not here IMO

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
