In addition, I am not trying to come across as an ass or that my opinion is correct. It is my take on things. I had/have a strong opinion on Jake post Tommy John, Godfrey, and Fox's coaching . I fully realize I am hard headed about all 3 of those issues.

John fox has always had the same opinion on the safeties.

yes we need physicality in the secondary. Without harris, our safeties won't be hitting players? I find that difficult to believe.

Run support is a lot easier to coach than coverage skills.

Actually Fox's opinion has changed about safeties. He used to beleive that they didn't really matter and you could get them later in the draft. Obviously he drafted both Godfrey and Martin higher in the draft than he has before. There is a demand for safeties in the cover 2 to be quick to the ball and hard hitters. Because the middle linebacker sits further back in the formation there are many times when the SS plays as close or closer to the line than the MLB. So we need a physical guy who can cover yet deliver a big hit.

As for run support being easier to coach than coverage skills, it isn't strictly about coaching but a mindset. You can coach all you want but Gamble isn't going to be physical nor were some cover guys like Deon Sanders, DeAngelo Hall and the list goes on. Guys who make great SS like to hit and want to mix it up. They think delivering a big hit is as important as breaking up a pass or even intercepting the ball. Sure you can teach technique but you need to teach desire and mindset which is either there or not.

From what I have seen Godfrey has that mindset to a point while I haven't seen it in Martin. But to be fair he only started a few games.

i still have this question for P55. what do you think happens when all these young bucks want more money? can we completely turnover our roster again?

We will likely try and sign our draft picks as long as we can since most rookie contracts are much cheaper than second contracts. Will we try and resign guys like Williams, Davis, Moore and a number of others? It depends on how this year goes. If we fall flat on our face then we will back off the fruit basket turnover and try to sign our core guys. If we have a surprisingly better team than projected by almost everyone not on the huddle, then absolutely this will be a model for the future. When players finish their rookie contract we will just replace them unless they are an exceptional athletes like Beason who doesn't come around that often.

I could see us lock up Clausen for 5 years and let Moore go unless he is sensational. We all know Williams could be replaced by Stewart and if our new linebacker acquisitions do well then davis is obviously expendable. This might be a harbinger of things to come every few years.

My probelm about all these moves is I feel this team was close too being a superbowl contender if not for Jake.

I think all we needed was a few tweaks and take a run at it. This is why I think that me and a few fans are dissapointed about this offseason. Now it seem we are farther away then we were at the end of the season. If they were going too make all these changes why not do it in the last few games????

If you were going to trade harris why not play Goddfrey and Martin together the last few games. Why not play Connors and Anderson with Beason and put Diggs on the bench. Fiammeta was out so you couldn't sit Hoover but maybe you play sutton more then Hoover.

I'm just saying why not put these young players in when their was no hope of making the playoffs. Why play the Vets if you knew you were going to cut them?

Some of you sit here and expect that everybody will step up and we will be good and call people who feel we might be asking too much dumb. Maybe I'm dumb but we are looking for the dream situation. 5 new starter come in a play even or better then their predecessor. No injuries but if we do all the scrapes we picked up from other teams can come in and we don't have much a drop off.

Please do me a favor look at all the question marks on this team and what you expect to happen that anwser them. Then look at how much you expect to happen. Then be realistic how much of this can really happen in 1 season.

    • 100%. And these same people will claim you have an agenda. You can't have it every way. We had the lowest rated defense in the league last year. Statistically the worst ever. By PFF grades (for whatever that's worth- but they are readily accepted, used, and conveyed by most "reputable" sources), the defense was the worst ever. Not only that, PFF rated our receiving corp the worst in football last season. The absolute worst... out of 32 teams. Which is why regardless of the lip service Canales and Morgan paid to the current guys, they knew it would be criminal not to give Bryce more help. People fixating on team stats and not taking these things into context are stupid, plain and simple, and I'm for one thankful they're not running this team (or probably anything for that matter bc they obviously can't discern reality. Again, going back to the eyeball test these Narrative Nancies seem to hate so much, did they not see the windows Bryce was putting balls into? Have the generally not watched much NFL? Please, please show me the film where all these NFL QBs are making throws like this to this point Bryce was "below average" down the stretch compared to them. Bryce made more wow throws in that 3 game stretch of the Bucs, Chiefs, and Eagles than every other QB combined in all the years since since Cam got hurt I genuinely am baffled by people that can watch throws like that and act like it's nothing. I guarantee you Steve Spagnola, Todd Bowles, and and Vic Fangio didn't think it was nothing after watching the little guy torch them with players those teams would be embarrassed to trot out at the skill position players. The national media spent all year making excuses for Mahomes not having elite weapons when he had multiple 1st & 2nd round talents at the skill positions along with future HoFers in Kelce and Hopkins. Bryce wasn't throwing for 300 yards every week with David Moore and Adam Theilen in spite of jaw dropping throws and you want to say the guy played below average. For those people, again, we ain't watching the same sport. And the name calling doesn't change that... The vitriol and projection... it's off the effing charts with these people.
    • "Well you see if you remove this terrible game that terrible game this other terrible game and then focus on these games you'll see he's actually one of the better QB's in the league and he's actually as good as Jayden Daniels". My god this place is delusional. I love it.
