2010 Panthers 4th WORST team in the NFL

I would like to know how we will have a worse record then 8-8.

1st. The schedule we have is easier then last year.

2nd. No Delhomme turning the ball over.

3rd. Danny Crossman is gone so ST has to be better.

4th. O-line is still intact.

5th. Still have double trouble and Smitty along with some other wideouts that could produce.

The only real question mark is will the young D-ends be able to pressure the QB. Yes we are young but we still have leadership and some great players. I for one am glad these young guys are getting the shot they deserve and hopefully they turn out to be the players we hoped and thought they were.

We have them all the time. 2007 if I remember correctly. What will it take?

1.An injury to Moore, Smitty, or Beason for starters.

2.A slow start on defense or offense.

3. A struggle the first few games and panic without the veterans to calm the ship.

4. Injuries like last year at positions where we are thin. Frankly that will be anywhere on the DLine, O line, wide receiver, linebackers etc.

Not hard to envision at all. It has happened to us at least 4 times in 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2009 under Fox where injuries to key players contributed to us finishing 7-9 or 8-8.

We went 8-8 with Jake at QB for the majority of the season. And we played a much harder schedule last year than we do this year... Am I missing something?

The guy that wrote this should step back... and literally ff**k his own face.

Problem won't be the offense it will be the defense. Last year we were a top 10 defense. This year we will be lucky to finish top 15. And the schedule may or may not be tougher. Strength of schedule from last year are notoriously inaccurate.

And can we keep the discussion to football. There is a smack forum for those intent on attacking others.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
