Warren Sapp defends Matt Moore

Anyways, I'm not entirely sold on Moore because he played well, but the games were pretty much meaningless.

The Vikings had a shot at home field advantage, and the Saints had opened the door by losing.

The Giants were on the playoff bubble and needed to win just to stay in the picture. Plus, it was the last game in Giants Stadium and a load of their old players came back.

How exactly do you construe those games as meaningless?

Add in that the Patriots were on a down trend and needed to win. And while the Bucs had nothing to play for, they still gave it their best.

No, the Panthers had nothing to play for, but that's actually a positive for Moore, not a negative.

Matt Moore is a solid QB, and I've stated as such in other threads in the forum during the past couple of days. However, I'm personally tired of solid, "game-managing" QB's. We need dynamic players at ALL the skill positions, including QB. To win Super Bowls now, you need a franchise QB. Ravens (Dilfer)

You answered your own question. :D

But to explain why I'm not sold on him is because:

1. Those teams defenses didn't really have much film to study up on Moore.

2. He's came in twice ..only late in the season when playoffs was out of the question, no pressure.

3.He was undrafted

4.Reminds me of what this guy has done..

I have no reason to be sold until Moore plays an actual full season. And he gets his chance week 1 this year, so until then, we will see how well Moore does.

I like him, but not sold on him just yet.

i also feel moore is best as your backup who can play when needed, he did show how our offense looks when we take care of the ball. every game he started we never got down so we could still run the ball and our d played well. we don't know if he can put the team on his back and carry it( some games will call for him to do that)

He will never be a backup. If they try to resing him for backup money, another team will sign him as their starter. He would have to have an atrocious season for him to be signed for an amount due to a backup vs. a starter.

I do not understand how people are down on Moore OR how anyone can minimize how important those games were to some of the best teams in the NFL. Moore is the real deal. I think people will be eating some crow after this season about Moore. The commentators will say they aways knew Moore would be the starter & so will some of you who are demeaning his body of work. :P

So you are still not sold on Tom Brady b/c he was a 6th rounder? That is the same arguement many had of why the PAtriots should not have let Bledsoe go & let everything ride on Brady. He was supposedly unproven b/c the other teams hadn't seen tape on him, etc., etc.

Everyone has the right to their opinion, but there very few games in the NFL that don't matter....those are only games like the Saints game, not the Vikes & Giants, etc.

EXACTLY!!!!

Sorry to scream, but you hit the nail on the head. It shows that Moore's a player in any circumstances & winning by itself is motivation enough for him.

i am neither down on moore or do think i think he played in meaningless games(you play to win the game) if i am wrong about moore it won't bother me much cause as long as he wins and plays well i will be happy. just not sold on him yet and glad the FO is atleast pushing him to improve.

That makes perfect sense. I just don't understand those that discredit what he has done. None of us "know" at this point what he will be able to do. I just know that he has the ability & attitude to be a great QB, not just a backup; Anyone who can't at least consider that, I have trouble understanding (esp. if they are a Panthers fan!).

Like.. they get really choppy sometimes?

But Woodson is horrible at making sense.

The Minnesota game cost home field advantage and the NYG game cost the Giants a chance at a playoff spot. New England hadn't locked up the AFC east. The Tampa Game was a bitter rival and TB had been playing better at the time of the game. The only meaningless game might have been the New Orleans game.

I wouldn't call them meaningless.
