My guess is he did not make the decision about the cuts.

My guess is he was not running the draft.

He is a lame duck coach. Do you think the front office will intervene if there is a questionable personnel call during the season such as for example with the QB situation? (Could be others).

I think that the front office is now a more active part of the team. How this plays out during the season could be interesting.

Will the Panthers continue to play not to lose?

How does Foxy handle 2010? What is his objective.....keeping his job or getting paid somewhere else?

A very interesting year.

I think Fox wants to stay here and I think Richardson wants to keep him here. I think he wanted to see if the front office would shake up things and cut off the dead weight that had been hurting us the past couple years (Delhomme).

As for the QB situation Fox will play it safe and keep in Moore unless he pulls a Jake Delhomme or gets injured. But this team will make a good playoff push unless injury bug bites us in the secondary.

I disagree. I find its EXTREMELY hard to believe that the Big Cat would keep Fox as coach if he didn't want him to do his coaching duties lock out or no lock out, that would just be dumb.

I will agree however that the front office is more active in the team and that could have alot to do with why Richardson sons were fired last year and some of our off season moves, but Fox is still in control. There won't be a situation like the Redskins where the "head coach" is on the sidelines but someone else is calling the plays.

2) Neither Jerry Jones, nor Al Davis is in the Panther's FO. that will NEVER happen

My question is "What is questionable QB play?" After Jake, how bad does Moore have to play for Fox or JR or whoever, to put a rookie in?

I do not trust Fox to make QB decisions. So, my question is...do the powers that be trust Foxy with that decision this year? (IMO they were too tolerant before.)

Would JR really under mind Fox that way? I have a real feeling JR and those in power will let him sink or swim.

They have not done that this off season. They have taken control of this team. My guess is they will intervene if they feel like they have too....although I am sure they hope Foxy has gotten the new company message and will do it right. And, if they do intervene, I am sure it will be very under the radar...unless Foxy wants to make it public.

I feel like JR has taken control of this team this offseason because he's one of the few guys that actually knows what's going on as far as the CBA/potential lock-out is concerned. We're in an uncapped year, so this was the year to cut veterans and go with the youngers guys because there's no limit on team spending this year. We're also set up as if there's going to be a cap reduction next year, because all of our older players with the bigger contracts have been sent off to pasture. When some teams are struggling to restructure contracts to get under cap, we'll already be there and in a place to lock up our star players long-term.

At least, that's my two cents on the whole situation. Fox is still the head coach of this team and will make all the decisions on gameday. Hurney is still the GM of this team and, along with Fox, is still calling the shots in regards to personnel. However, the Big Cat is in a position to know what's going on in regards to the CBA, so he stepped in to do a little work for the better of the franchise.

I would agree that Fox will control game day and will play who he wants. Unless Richardson or Hurney want Fox gone they won't interfere because that is a sure formula for Fox to leave.

I also think the FO is in control of the budget and overall spending. I suspect that Hurney controls the player decisions but Richardson through Morrison has laid out the groundrules and gave him an austerity budget which required him to essentially gut the team. I doubt that Richardson is controlling day to day decisions but Morrison is his right hand man and may have alot to say. If Hurney were happy he would have signed his extension.

As for Big Cat knowing what is going to happen with the CBA, none of them can know what the other side is going to do. But he surely knows where the owners want to be and seems determined to reduce payroll and control spending well in excess of many other teams at this point.

true but he has an idea of what's been offered on both sides and has an idea of how far apart the two sides are. the panthers are not the only team cutting back, the teams that seem to be the most active this year are jets& the bears

      Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates

      This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
