Kirwin - 6 New teams in playoffs this year

Falcons, 49ers, Giants, Titans, Dolphins, Steelers = no Panthers.

I don't see the Falcons going. I've got the Panthers as 8-8 or 9-7 at best and missing as well but I don't think the Falcons are any better than us. The Saints will be the only playoff team from our division. The east and north will get the wild cards.

You're wrong about the Panthers

If the Panthers make the playoffs this year it will be a much bigger surprise than when they did it in 2005 or 2008. Difference is this team has much less veteran leadership and experience. And experience counts for everything in the NFL. All of these guys have talent and athleticism or they wouldn't be here to begin with.

Anything anyone says is just a guess at this point. There hasn't even been a down of football played yet, I'll let what happens on the field make up my mind.

but that robs you of the opportunity to act superior to everyone else while dismissing any sensible argument.

Silly me! Obviously I meant that Kirwan is full of poo and has no idea what he's talking about. We have a young, talented team that's sure to make the playoffs this year and set up a Panthers dynasty for years to come! Better? ;)

Yeah, it's all a guess, but I don't know why it would shock folks to see the Panthers in the play offs though. The only thing this offense will be missing is Moose, and the only real potential problem on defense is depth at DT and maybe in the secondary, but how many other teams won't miss a beat if some of their key starters get hurt?

Let me reiterate that Tank Tyler and Louis Leonard have both been in the league for 4 years, so the Panthers starting D-line is not as screwed as people seem to believe. I don't know why so many fans are acting as if those guys have never played a game in their lives and have no chance to succeed in Meeks defense. It's not like they will be learning from scratch like even the long time veterans were at this time last year.

The only real problem on defense isn't the lack of depth at DT, its the lack of a proven pass rusher. I'm expecting Johnson to post at least 10 sacks and Brown, Norwood, and Hardy should contribute, but having a decent pass rush is far from guaranteed.

Tank Tyler has only started 19 games in his career and only 2 times in the past 2 years. Last year he appeared in 6 games for us and had a grand total of 6 tackles. Louis has started 5 games in those 4 years. Compare that with who they are replacing and it clear that they don't possess 1/10 of the experience that we lost. So yeah they are very inexperienced and very green. Everyone is athletic and talented at this level. What makes the biggest difference is game experience and they don't have much of it. Should we be concerned, only an idiot wouldn't be.

I'm concerned but I'm certainly more optimistic about the situation. I was never impressed with kemo. Lewis was good but not as a starter.

Experience counts when you can actually use it. Off the field I cann see how the cuts hurt us but on the field I don't see some catastrophic lack of experience that will cripple us.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
