Greatest passing offense ever?

What is your opinion? I'm a Rams fan, but believe it or not I think the 89-90 49ers were better than the Greatest Show on Turf. Reason I say that is because Martz's numbers were inflated because he called for passes 70 percent of the time.

Here are some of the offenses I feel deserve mention here....the late 70s/early 80s Chargers (Fouts, Jefferson, Joiner, Winslow), the late 80s/early 90s 49ers (Montana, Rice, Taylor), the GSOT (Warner, Bruce, Holt, Hakim, Faulk), the 99 Panthers (Beuerlein, Walls, Moose, Jeffers), the recent Cardinals (Warner, Fitzgerald), the Colts (Manning, Harrison), the Patriots (Brady, Moss), the Dolphins (Marino, Duper, Clayton).

If you go by one year, it has to be the Brady/Moss Patriots. If you go by three years it's the GSOT. If you go by collective accomplishments together, I'd say the Niners with Montana and Rice/Taylor. What say you?

Greatest passing offense ever? Greatest Show on Turf... and I believe the stats bear that out.

Faulk definitely gave them a dimension not too many others had, but at the same time the Rams never used their tight ends much, except on the goal line. But here's the thing...the Rams should have won three Super Bowls with that talent. They torpedoed their own defense by calling pass plays all the time. And they almost lost the one Super Bowl that they won and it cost them the one against New England.

I wouldn't call them the greatest team of all time, not even close - but they had the most prolific passing offense of all time. The 49ers were a more complete team which is why they won more SB's.

The question wasn't about who had the greatest or most complete team, though. The question was regarding the "greatest passing offense ever," so I'd say you just affirmed Meat's contention.

I would have laid the blame for that near-loss at the feet of the Defense had it ended in defeat... but I'm not the Rams scholar that you are

Thats easy, the 2009 Cleveland Browns. Good luck finding a team that has better numbers then this:

Comp. %______49.4

Yards_________2255

Touchdowns____11

Interceptions___18

...................................................

Passing Yards Per Game_________140.93

Totally agree. Also consider the rules at that time. There was NO chuck or 5 yard rule. Bump and jam at the line and keep going if you want.

That was some real football back then.
