In my Supra the knock sensor will actually retard the timing to adjust for low octane fuel, among other things.

I run higher octane fuels because they are cleaner, not because I expect a boost in power.

Why would I allow the spill to stop me? They screwed up no doubt about it, but it could just as easily have been one of the other companies. They didn't do it intentionally.

besides, the average difference between 87 and 89 is around 10 cents per gallon, give or take.

In my 16 gallon tank, I'm spending $1.60 per fill up to run better gas, well worth it IMO

My other two cars only require 87, but 89 isn't that much more and the benefits are well worth it.

Not sure....my private pilot handles that for me. I do know that my space shuttle I bought from NASA takes rocket fuel. Put jet fuel in it one time and it made a horrible pinging noise about 20 miles up. Added a little STP gas treatment and it went away though.
