that's not really a good thing. high number of tackles usually means the defense can't get off the field because they suck or can't stay off the field because the offense sucks.

here's hoping he isn't among the top in the league this year.

Yeah i was looking at that a while ago and i think it was like only two of the top 20 players in total tackles were on playoff teams. I don't know how that carries over for previous years but it makes sense to me.

Actually Meek's defense funnels the runner to the will and really enables him to make plays. It was part of the reason that Davis was having a great season. The defense could be good and Beason would still get the lion's share of tackles. Usually a middle linebacker getting a ton of tackles in our defense suggest a problem with the run defense. It means players are coming clean through the middle. So if Beason playing the Will is at the top in tackles, it means that Louis and Tyler are doing a decent job plugging things up. It Connor has a 100 tackles this year then I will be more concerned.

Good point. Willis has had better statistics the Beason since the two joined the league but IMO Willis is on the field much longer than the BEAST is. So his numbers are going to be higher.

Go Panthers

    • Bryce and Dave will determine how many games this team wins next year. It’s not on the WRs. The RBs. LBs. This is about 2 things: 1. Can Bryce continue to come up big in the few key downs that decide most games?  2. Can Canales evolve his play calling to counter punch like the big boys do. Half time adjustments.  teams that score 30+ points on the regular win more games than not. That’s on Bryce and Dave. The offense is top 10 at every position group, save for TE and QB. A baller TE is gravy but not crucial when the receivers are dudes.  The defense is the defense. It’ll be better this season, hopefully by a large margin, but Dave/Bryce is really where it’s at.
    • Normally I'd wholeheartedly agree with this. But I feel like teams figured out this offense after the Raiders game. Bryce was so inept the first 2 games that we couldn't really even run the offense. Dalton's first game showed what we had. But after that game, coverages got a lot tighter and windows were smaller. When Bryce came back in, his ability to extend plays made a big difference. It's really difficult to stop a QB that can beat/escape 1on1 tacklers. It puts a lot of pressure on the defense when you blitz. And he was completing throws in tight coverage with anticipation. Point being Bryce wasn't throwing to wide open receivers that were schemed open by the offense. Occasionally yes. But not often.
    • With the additions we've made to our roster combined with the state of the division and the conference as a whole there is no excuse for this team not to make a legitimate push for 8-9 wins. Anything less is honestly inexcusable. There will be no more free passes for being a doormat in this iteration of the league where even mediocre teams are competing for playoff spots.
