Seriously, somebody needs to put that dog down.

Call Vick.

this joke has been ran into the ground.

I challenge you to think of something better, then. Man, some of you guys (posters - not black QB's) are always serious.

It has nothing to do with that one joke, but merely all of your posts seeming to be serious. :P

IMO, playing flag football is not really "taking a chance". At least no more of a chance than driving on a busy highway on the way to church. It was freak accident, nothing more.

Drivinng to church is a part of most person's daily routine and it's also not prohibited in his contract. His contract is basically asking him that if he's going to get hurt playing a sport, it better be at an NFL activity. He broke that rule.

Playing in an adult flag football is very likely not prohibited in his contract. The clauses relating to this are generally very vague and written specifically so there is room for interpretation. Driving to church could be considered dangerous if you are on a motorcycle or in a convertible sports car. He isn't likely prohibited from playing in sports. Look at how many players play golf or go swimming in the off-season. What could be prohibited is contact sports. But even then how many guys play basketball in the off-season or scuba dive or a myriad of other things.

But to say that what he did was prohibited may or may not be true. With Smith it seems he would be prohibited from everything since he is so competitive. Did you see him play kickball last year? I suspect he could be the first guy to make checkers a contact sport.

It probably is in his contract not to blast teammates in the face while they are taking a knee with their back to him also.

so what?

The guy does what he wants and basically can do no wrong based on what he has accomplished here with a really bad QB thus far.

The fact that he will miss most or some of camp makes me happy. Let him sit. We don't even have a number two receiver right now and the younger guys get plenty of reps/ I like Kenny Moore being able to take the number one role over and keeping everyone else slotted where they are now. This is a good thing.

Its almost too perfect to be true IMHO. Let the camp media focus on his recovery and the lack of his presence. Let the QB competition be a real competition and not just who throws the best ball to Smitty. Take a knee in camp without fear. Fire the very expensive spin-control staff who feed us crap like, "the Steve Smith punch united the team".

This is great.

agreed 100%.

i'm another one who likes kenny moore in smitty's spot...not because i think that he is the best WR on the team, i'm pretty far from saying that. i see him as an understudy filling in smith's place while the rest of the guys learn their roles. moore will probably be the #5 receiver on the depth chart but filling in smith's spot he will be fine in practice.

Do you have a copy of his contract to post? I would like to see the exact wording that prevents him from playing flag football. Does that mean he can't go bowling, or play badmitton, or toss a baseball in the backyard with his kid?

people keep trying to throw the debate off track with these far fetched comparisons of flag football with leisurely back yard games and driving to church.

If he breaks his arm playing with his kids or doing everyday activities then it's very likely he's not at fault for his injury. Accidents happen. Breaking your arm playing organized flag football??? Accident that was easily avoidable, Smitty's fault.

Theres a huge difference between high tempo contact sports and badminton or playing with your kids. It'd be pretty damn hard to break your arm playing catch or driving to church. You know the difference but your trying to cut Smitty some slack that he doesn't really deserve by making these odd comparisons.

He could cut himself making a sandwich so I guess since he can theoretically get hurt doing anything we should just let him do whatever the hell he wants? Even if it jeopardize the success of the team in the millions of dollars JR has invested in him?

He shouldn't have played flag football. Any flak or garnished wages he could receive is fair and well earned. His responses haven't been that great but at least he took responsibility for it and apologized. Finishing with "everybody else does it, and I still won't take the rule seriously" (paraphrased obviously), isn't the greatest follow up. What's done is done.
