Tips for getting over this loss

Recommended Posts

So I'm waking up this morning a bit hung over and a bit more bummed than I was even last night about this unexpected turn of events. I figured I'd start a thread for us fans who take this game a bit too seriously and are a little out of sorts today. Maybe one answer is to "take the game less seriously," but that's easier to say than do, so let's hear your suggestions. Here are mine (all of which I plan to do...well, except for the kids one):

1. Exercise. The greater the amount, and the greater the intensity the better (to a point -- don't give yourself a heart attack). Time to start that New Year's Resolution of getting in shape in earnest.

2. Take a bath. Seriously, we stink! Preferably after the exercise.

3. Project-time -- whether it's cleaning out your garage, organizing your CD collection, whatever, this is probably a GREAT day

4. If you have kids -- take them somewhere cool today.

Please share your own suggestions, I need stuff to take up a day that was intended to be spent watching football.

Uh, your first one (not part of the list) was the correct one.

Why does everyone take this game so seriously? Why do we need to act like owners, coaches and players in this forum?

I know it's not always easy to do, but damn, there's NOTHING we can do about how they play and what they do.

Seriously, after I log off this board in the next 30 minutes, my mind will be off the Panthers and on my life. Which is where everyone elses should be. Now, if the Panthers are part of your life... I have a good therapist and psychiatrist you can talk to...

Your point is well taken D. But I can't be the only one who planned to spend most of today watching the playoffs and now has no interest in doing so. Thought I'd throw a few suggestions of things that can get the minds of the more obsessive (ill, as you might call them) fans, myself included, weened off of football for now. :D

I'm not innocent; I spent all day watching football too. I'm bored, have no current hobbies, and have no GF at the moment. Second semester just started, though, so I guess I have something to do.

I hope no one takes my post too harshly; I did not mean it that way.

EDIT: Oh, and start watching the NBA games!

P.S. Buy a PS3 if you don't have one already.

All of the emotion, we as fans, invested in this team this season was just thrown in the garbage last night. I'm more ashamed than anything. Life goes on but it's ok to be pissed.

Yep. It fine for us to be upset. We just need to let it out our emotion. I'm already starting to recover slowly right now.

Fans from every team except one will end up disappointed this season.

I think no one can say that there aren't more important things in your life than football. Your kids, families, educations if you're still in school, work, etc.

It's like a bad break-up. You had a great relationship, but in the end it just wasn't meant to be. But there will be another day, and you'll get back in the game. Charlottenian chooses to burn the gifts his hypothetical girlfriend gave him. Others, like myself, will simply put them up high in the closet and pull them down from time to time just to remember. You might run into her in the supermarket, and you may not be ready to speak to her yet. Just remember the good times you had and know that each day you wake up is a day closer to next season!

:D

I'm mostly over it now. Sounds hard to believe but I've learned after last season that despite all the cheering or complaining I can do as a fan, I don't have control over what my team does. Oh, sure, I can rant and rave on a message board all I like but that I can't devise gameplans, throw passes, run the ball and so forth.

Yes, I'm very disappointed it ended and in that way but I had no control over it.

    • This is the Saints current QB room, a 2nd round rookie and former 4th and 5th round QBs.  Pretty sad when Rattler is your best option even though Shough is tops of their depth chart for right now. Dude would have been a day 3 guy in the 2024 QB class right there with Rattler.  A paper thin QB class pushed Shough to a day 2 pick.  Expect them to sign a veteran before training camp.
    • D Carr must have really disliked the saints to wait and do this announcement after the draft has passed if he made this call a few weeks before the draft sure they would have approached it and the offseason differently.  oh well will be interesting to see how their qbs perform.  would love to see them roll with Thill and just make the whole offense towards his skillset.  Although sadly would be only playing in about half the games with how often he gets injured.
    • I have to say it's quite fascinating seeing you pivot from months and months of wailing and agonizing about threads derailing into Bryce Young slingfests only for you to turn around and do the same thing. And just for the record. Nobody in life ever attained wisdom and clarity from mistakes by having people blindly fawn over them and tell them they are above reproach and incapable of making mistakes. Our front office is just as human as we are. And based on the fact that front offices across the league outside of a handful of teams change on a fairly regular basis it's safe to say they are certainly no more infallible than the average Joe even though they possess significantly more knowledge usually. If you want a utopia where all you do is shine shoes for anyone associated with the Panthers you go right on ahead and create yourself a new community sir. More power to you.
