Dear Jake,

And here come the same old worn out excuses from the Jake Knob Slobbers. How terrible does Jake have to play in order for them to realize that Jake is not that great? I feel that he could go out and throw 10 INTs and have 5 fumbles in 1 game, slap Mr. Richardson, piss on Sam Mills' statue, take a dump on everyone's momma, and the same jock sniffers will still bring up that Super Bowl from 6 years ago as to why Jake is a GOD! Give it up already. Jake is a piece of sh*t QB who costs this team immensely.

Couldn't say it better.

He is turrible.

Jake was terrible last night I agree..But if any of you think replacing a QB is going to be an easy job you need to think about what happened last season.

I'm sure that a lot of the negative post on here are coming from people who thought David Carr was going to be our greatest QB ever. So if you're going to burn your Delhome jersey you need to burn your #8 David Carr also,

GO PANTHERS.............

It won't be easy but that doesn't mean it doesn't need to be done. Jake Delhomme is the most inconsistent QB in the game. He has a good arm and a great heart but he does not have the mind or the spine to win a SB. Let him be the QBs coach, that's something he'd be really good at. Before anyone starts harping on all the comeback wins Jake pulled off consider why the Panthers had to come from behind in the first place. I'll be the first to agree, finding a replacement will be almost impossible and there are no good prospects available at the moment that Carolina can afford or will be in position to get. But I would much rather see Carolina take the chance and fail miserably than to maintain the status quo and fail miserably.

Because we had bad backups and did a poo job evaluating the people we brought in, Jake is irreplaceable.

I buy the argument that we failed to plan for the situation we're in and that we're stuck with Bozo another year, but using the year Jake went out doesn't fly.

That's easy to say now after a frustrating home loss....but did you feel the same way after we traded 2 first rounders for Sean Gilbert which set the franchise back for years? Or how about cutting Steve Buerlein, in favor of unproven Jeff Lewis and Chris Weinke which also failed miserably and was one of the reasons we had a 1-15 season and then had to go in rebuilding mode all over again? We failed miserably last night, there's no doubt....but at least we got there and know that we COULD have won. I don't see that as a reason to blow up everything and start over.

Just pointing our that a lot of our fans are not awesome evaluators of talent also....and that they don't lose their job if they screw up because they are not held accountable.

Those teams didn't have the offensive weaponry this one has. Smitty, Moose (if he comes back) Williams, Stewart are all great players that a good coach and mediocre QB should be able to win with.

I just hate that particular argument. Carr sucking doesn't project anything onto Jake. Like I said, I buy the "who the hell do you replace him with"? line.

Who does everybody think should replace Jake?? You dont just get rid of a QB without having somebody in place that you KNOW will be better.

I agree. Who is better? Someone please tell me who will be available & won't worth a lot that we can get that will be better than Jake. We can't get one in the draft, 'cause we don't have a 1st round pick & we don't have the money for one in FA.

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
