The Bobcats will look to trade center Erick Dampier, but they'll have to wait until after Sept. 13 when he can be included in multiplayer deals.

Charlotte hoped to waive Dampier to clear cap space and then sign him to a more inexpensive contract, but the veteran didn't agree.

He has a $13 million non-guaranteed contract.

The Bobcats added Kwame Brown earlier this week when it was apparent that they wouldn't get Dampier for cheaper.

"It's going to take a while," Charlotte general manager Rod Higgins said of dealing Dampier.

"Now that we've got another center, waiving him for the sake of waiving him doesn't make a whole lot of sense for us. We're going to continue to talk to teams to try to improve our roster."

but first, they are looking around to see if there is any trade value for him, as they told the Associated Press. Maybe try to get a point guard to replace Raymond Felton (shipped to New York).

But [bobcats GM Rod] Higgins is lowering expectations. While saying there's no "drop dead date" to get a deal done, they may end up simply waiving him.

"The conversations have been had around the league," Higgins said. "I don't know if there's going to be anything that subsequently gets done."

The Bobcats will not take a player back at more than $5 million, to stay under the tax threshold themselves. So no, the Carmelo Anthony rumors are not true. The financial considerations limit what Charlotte can get back in terms of quality, but it never hurts to ask. I guess.

SO it looks like Charlotte doesn't want any one in return making over 5 mil a season = sucks

    • By several accounts, Tepper isn't as hardly as involved as he was. That's been the criticism: that he meddles. We didn't hear or see much from Tepper in the war room; he was basically trusting his team to do their thing without much participation as it pertained to wheeling and dealing. He is also saying the right things now, and, as evidenced by the formerly mentioned, following through. Earlier this year in a discussion with Mike Kaye, Tepper referred to Morgan, Canales and Brandt as a an "excellent management team." He also added, "We're just getting started, so we're just building through this year and...it's just building and building and building, and I think, you know, we'll build in the next few years."
    • Yeah the Broncos defense that year was ridiculously talented no doubt. Still for how good they were we were in the game late into the fourth. Manning was a horrid passer. But we needed to try and match the intensity. The only guy we had coming close to that was Kony Ealy and that's a sad indicator. At the same time it was plainly obvious the refs were not going to give us even an inch. I haven't been as passionate about football since that game and the 2016 season opener where the league openly allowed headhunting was the final straw. The league never wanted us to win it all and they sent that message loud and clear. Sadly our owner at the time was loyal to the league to a fault even until the very end when they ousted him before Snyder. Now we're stuck with the Tepper's. Man........
    • All I heard was uber rides, weight trainers, and t shirts??? Maybe some meals too........ What a monster and he should be tossed in a rusty wood chipper!!!1!11!!!!!
