An Armanti Interview Worth Watching

Recommended Posts

First and foremost, I apologize for another AE thread. The length of this video and the questions asked by reporters warrant its own thread. Hopefully this hasn't been posted but I'm sure it has somewhere. In the interview a lot of hot topics are touched upon, worth the watch for you AE supporters and those ready to see him out of Charlotte already.

For as much crap as I give Armanti, in all reality I see him as a humble, competitive, deer-in-headlights right now...

He can work on his worst habits and get better, and become a special player... I've never doubted that he would do just that...

I still would have rather had Gilyard though, but I like Armanti too...

I'll second this opinion.

He IS a talented athlete, and does seem to be a good person.

I don't blame AE for accepting the role he's been assigned. Lets' face it, getting selected as a potential NFL starter in the draft isn't a sure thing for any rookie.

Where I place blame is with our FO for drafting a QB with the expectation that he could be a WR. I blame them for putting him in a position where his talents aren't being utilized to their fullest and where his career could be in jeopardy. From what I've seen of his highlights, he could be another Michael Vick (pre-dogfight, athletically speaking). The Panthers have done this guy a huge dis-service.

Are you kidding me?

Are you kidding me that you're kidding me?

AE is fast on his feet and can throw pretty damn well. Here's his totals from four years at App.

Passing

Completions 768 - Attempts - 1,180 - Completion % = 65.1

10,392 yards - 74 TDs - 33 INT

Rating = 154.54

Rushing

755 Attempts - 4,361 yards - Average per rush = 5.8 yards - 65 Rushing TDs

So ya... he's a tremendous QB.... there is nothing to show that he had receiver's hands in any of the highlights I've seen, but he had a quick release and accurate arm.

I'm wondering if we drafted him to keep Atlanta from bringing Vick ver 2.0 against us.

    • Donovan seems like highest risk to me. Lloyd and May have already established relationships with all these kids. There’s probably guys hitting the portal that they recruited from HS. And then there’s the possibility of transferring their own guys from their current teams. They’ve also been recruiting the HS kids for like the next 5 years already. Look at the Iowa coach who hit the ground running by transferring all his guys from his D2 program. Or going across sports to Cignetti transferring all his JMU guys year one then building off that to a national title year 2. Donovan is starting from square one having been in the NBA so long and he’s already 60. So you’re potentially punting year 1 for a guy you are just hoping to be a 10 year hire while you figure out how to actually develop your next home grown 20yr guy. That’s 1/10th of the time you have him, more or less at best. The hope would be that he would find some high level assistants who have been working the college recruiting trails already, but then are you giving up his ideal staff just to get a foothold in recruiting and transfers. Think Belichick year one was bad? Imagine how much worse it would be without Steve Belichicks transfer portal pulls. Hoping Mays or Lloyd are all they’re cracked up to be.
    • I don't care if you block me. I'm honestly tired of seeing you bash the heels and Hornets and pretend to be a fan. Get a life.  And like I said before.. Hang the banners.  Been 11 years since Duke even made it to a championship
    • When you have to keep blocking people you might be the dumbass.
