Blackouts

The NFL defines an area to be "local" if it is within a 75-mile radius of the stadium. Therefore, a blackout affects any market (affiliate station) whose terrestrial broadcast signal, under normal conditions, penetrates into the 75-mile radius. These affiliates are determined before the season, and do not change as the season progresses. Some remote primary media markets, such as Denver and Phoenix, may cover that entire radius, so that the blackout would not affect any other affiliates.

So, Raleigh shouldn't be in the zone.

So, Raleigh shouldn't be in the zone.

Although Raleigh may not technically be in the "zone" it's affiliates network area may penetrate that zone. The two downtown areas are only 168 miles apart so even if both affiliates were in their respective downtowns and only had a perfect 75mile radius of coverage the two circles would only be 18 miles apart. It's not beyond reason for the two to converge, which would cause anyone within the Raleigh affiliate to have a blackout.

    • It depends on what version of bad we are getting. Can't have the locker room tearing apart over it.
    • I think that depends more on how high our pick is. If we have the 1st, 2nd or even 3rd pick i think we are drafting a QB rather than shopping FA market for a QB1. Curious if we’d be reluctant to start a rookie QB week 1 though.
    • Hurney 2.0 and Fitts were so bad I don't know if it was intentional or they were that abysmally clueless. Fittershits panicked repeatedly being on the back end of positional runs while Hurney couldn't evaluate anyone outside of the 1st.  I can't figure out why Plummer still has a jersey. There's no reason. Dalton brings nothing to the table. If another QB gets cut that has given a glimmer of anything better than what we have, we should look, and that goes for every position.  I cant get over how much different this team could have been with a competent GM and having accepted the Rams offer for Burns. This franchise could have gone in a totally different direction.
