Particularly the I-formation, I need you. I am majoring in physical education and also getting a teacher's license for English as well. On top of that, I plan on coaching high school football. I spend a lot of time thinking of what I want to run, and I have what I want my base offense to be (similar to Georgia Tech's offense), but I want a complimentary offense for change of pace purposes. I chose the I, as I intend on playing smash mouth football, then taking advantage of defenses who sell out on the run with crisp play action. My problem is, I can't figure out how to make the passing tree I have for the option work for the I.

So, does anybody have any ideas for terminology on passing plays? I am completely drawing a blank.

Also, if this is in the wrong place, sorry. Looked to be the only place I could post it.

You may need to build your offense around the talent you have. Some towns the elem and middle schools might be organized enough to feed to your system on the high school level but that's tough to do.

If you have superior runners, decent blocking, sure I might be good.

I prefer flex offenses. At times run, times pass.

Bring this offense back because many don't run it and it's a pre cursor to the spread we have now.

The Veer. When you make the State just PM and I will come watch you guys.

I'm no coach, but you can find some good boards out there for this type of thing.

3 step routes tend to be hooks and slants to the receivers to offset heavy pressure and press coverage while the TE (or slot) either goes up on a post or out (Boise St toasted VT on a play action with the TE running a post last night).

5 step routes typically have an outside receiver on one side running a post or squaring off on an in route on one side, the interior receiver (a TE or slot) going outside with the flanker going inside in some fashion (or vice versa) or having the flanker on a go route to burn them deep.

A favorite of mine on Madden (for serious!) is to run a play where the inside receiver runs a go while flanker runs a 10-15 yrd dig to take advantage of the safety going deep while the TE drags across taking advantage of the clear out.

I can tell you it will be no mean feat to install the triple option at the HS level, but it obviously can be run out of the I as well as the wishbone and the veer.

Triple option teams have very, very few pass plays due to the sheer complexity of the running plays.

      I mean, no I’m not going to panic when he got 2 Qs and looked great in 1 and looked not great in another (let’s not mention the drop).    Yeah we finally have a team that would be considered average offensively around him. Let’s roll this season.

      The woe is me everything but Bryce sucks mantra is stale af my friend. Look nobody here is going to argue with the fact Frank Reich was not a good head coach. At the same time. Bryce Young is now in his second season with his second coaching staff and a handpicked young offensive head coach who has been known for working with QB's such as Baker and Geno. As far as the offensive pieces around Bryce we have the 4th highest salary cap allocation (that might be even higher now after the new Moton deal) dedicated to the OL in the entire league. We have 2 first round WR's one of them 8th overall the first time we've ever selected a WR that high in franchise history. And the fact of the matter is Bryce Young did not have a good preseason. It's not the first time it's happened either. We all hope to see he and the rest of the team flip a switch in week 1. But we should all be able to agree that the offensive performances we've seen from the entire QB room (Bryce included) in preseason was simply unacceptable.

      We have seen Bryce play… what… 9 games with AT BEST what one would consider NFL average WRs? You just can’t see the forest for the trees and keep going back to your lazy take of revisionist history.    he looked AWFUL Y1 with the worst coaching I’ve ever seen in the NFL and one of the weakest WR rooms I can recall. He looked awful first half of y2 and great second half of y2 with average coaching and average skill position. I don’t know where this elite talent argument even comes from.
