The Mike Goodson appreciation thread

double trouble both go over 1100 yards for the first time in NFL history for a pair of backs to do so and we start giving our 3rd string back touches in the red zone in the fouth quarter???

This.

There are a lot of backs that "look good" when they're catching screen passes out of the shotgun with the defense in prevent formation.

For JStew to only have 3 more touches than Goodson through 2 weeks (13-10) is a damn shame.

I'm going to go out on a limb a say that DeAngelo is traded within the next couple of weeks. And no, it won't be for a WR.

If the Panthers would be able to get a 1st rounder for him with having Stewart, Goodson and Sutton on the roster, they would be stupid not to take the deal.

I love DeAngelo but this football not American Idol. This is the type of smart move the Panthers need to make that the fans will hate in the short term, including me.

Goodson has shown promise on some plays but still makes stupid mistakes, like on the kickoff he booted out at the 3yd line. He has impressed me by not fumbeling the way he did last yr, but u need to do a whole lot more to convince me he can take over for DWill or JStew.

Also so way should Goodson be in the backfield on ANY goaline situations. Period.

Yep. Next draft is chockfull of stud WRs and as much as I'd hate taking a WR in the first round with so many other glaring 1st round needs...having two 1st rounders would make that transition easy.

and I say this as a DeAngelo fan too.

    • Canales has never been part of big YAC offenses in the NFL.  That’s not his tree.  Not in Seattle, Tampa or here.  Every O he has been associated with basically has been bottom half of the league in YAC.  That’s what Bryce needs to happen though  2 very different things
    • Well, his job is to win and make Bryce better and other stuff too but he has to have a certain amount of buy in to make that work. If it is real or he has to talk himself into believing it, as coach and leader and in the context of the present time with the whole team needing to believe, who knows? You lie if you have to.  I think you have have to separate that Canales from the detached offseason evaluation Canales. It is possible that you are correct and he is sold on Bryce. It is also possible that he isn’t, but cannot confess.
    • Ah yes, the old "accuse your opponent of what you're actually trying to do" tactic. Always amusing 😄 You wanna drop out? No problem, but you should probably do so by just admitting the conversation is over your head.  Though truth be told, even if you don't wanna admit it, I'm pretty sure anyone reading this, watching you dodge the questions and just cut and paste the same recycled answers over and over again can probably already see that 😆
