My God, John Fox is truly Teflon John

Despite the team having been ran right into the ground, having the worst team in nearly a decade, having a fifth straight season with no playoff win, having a grand total of 3 playoff appearances in 9 seasons, having no back-to-back winning seasons (the longest tenured coach in league history that can say that)....he is STILL largely escaping blame so far this season. There's always a new villain. Last year it was (rightfully) Jake. This year it's been (rightfully) Big Pussy. Yet these "John Fox sucks/should be fired/is evil" threads still rarely go anywhere.

Why? Is it just because we all assume this is his last season so we don't care that much?

3 playoffs in 9 seasons isn't bad. Seriously. Ask the Lions or Bills.

Anybody with this kind of response is a defeatist, enabling, loser of a fan. I'm sure you're a great person FuzzyPanther, but that response sucks.

3 playoff appearances in 9 seasons IS bad. 0 playoff wins since Shaun Alexander was NFL MVP IS bad. No back-to-back winning seasons in 9 seasons IS bad.

Not again.

Assuming we don't make the playoffs and the teams that are currently in playoff positions do (which obviously isn't guaranteed), the following teams will have at least 3 playoff appearances in the past 9 seasons as well:

Indianapolis

San Diego

New England

Cincinnati

NY Jets

Baltimore

New Orleans

Minnesota

Dallas

Green Bay

Philadelphia

Tennessee

Pittsburgh

NY Giants

CAROLINA

Atlanta

Seattle

Tampa Bay

Washington

Kansas City

Chicago

Denver

That's 22 teams out of 32. Not impressive in the slightest.

    • I don't really care as much about athleticism and arm strength.  While Murray might be better in that regard, I think Bryce has enough of both to do well in the NFL. The main reason this trade reference is silly is the money and the fact that Murray has been around a long while and hasn't proven that he can perform consistently when the game is on the line.  Bryce has shown that he can play well in the clutch (in the few opportunities he has had).
    • If Bryce can continue the level of play he showed after the benching, then there's a good shot we at least compete to win the division. Tampa is a solid team but even last year in our week division they went 10-7 and will be on their 4th OC in as many years. The Saints are a mess and are in a mist of a half rebuild half still trying to compete mode and will probably be starting a rookie QB. The Falcons are a wild card as they have a really good offense but are we really crowning Michael Penix as a franchise QB after just 3 games?  The only thing I want out of this season is for Bryce to come out and without a shadow of a doubt prove he's our franchise QB. If that happens then most of the fanbase would be happy and I believe we'd be in a good place record wise at the end of the season. Maybe falling just short of winning the division with a chance to sneak in as a wild card team.
