I can name a few reasons why we did better at the end of last season than we're doing now. But we're saving money.......

Fanfest...preseason...the offense has been pitiful since the start. I can't believe we are so surprised at how bad the offense is, I've never seen them as bad as they were this year at fanfest. I can't exactly put my finger on why but we definitely should have seen this coming. Hopefully jimmy can spark the offense.

Eeeehhh...not really, for two reasons.

For one, as bad as it's been, the offense we see now (including Smith, Stewart and Williams for full games, but still minus Otah) is actually better than the one we saw in preseason. They are capable of moving the ball, and at least some scoring, but they have a tendency to self-destruct.

Second, and more to the point, if preseason is really "the truth", then why isn't the Panther defense completely dominating everyone right now?

(and no, it isn't as simple as the offense being bad; that doesn't explain everything)

Outside of game three, preseason is really only goof for evaluating individual performances, not overall team quality. You can only judge the teams to the degree which you can extrapolate the sum of those individual performances to a team measure. But even then, the fact that every team is resting starters, nobody is gameplanning and coaches are calling plays designed not to win, but to test player strengths and weaknesses, you're still essentially guessing.

Granted, you might guess right, but even a correct guess is still a guess.

Maybe, but I've been to several fan fests and I've never seen the offense look as bad as it did. And we didn't even score a TD during preseason which has been well documented. At some point it all has to mean something, these performances have to count, and we need to understand that the offense hasn't been clicking at any point this year.
