Did Jake at least give you hope?

With Delhomme, no matter how bad we were losing I always felt that he was going to get into a gunsling and pull it out in the 4th, I never lost hope even though towards the end he would disappoint more than come through. Under the new era, the moment we are down I am pretty much convinced that Moore/Clausen do not have the intangibles to get it done and pull it out

correct me if i'm wrong, but clausen hasn't really had a chance to show us if he can do that, has he?

there's quite a bit that has been written from his time at ND that he was able to do that and did it quite a few times. he got fired up and got everyone fired up and playing at a higher level.

let's let the kid play before we start saying he can't help or he can't bring us from behind.

did jake give us confidence? he did until arizona. i did feel like he could pull the team from behind and win but when we played arizona in the playoffs, he lost it.

I understand your feelings. I, too, was a Jake fan ... until he began averaging 7 turnovers a game.

Face it, Jake was always a reckless slinger of the ball and only Wesley Walls's, Smith's and Moose's talent saved him. But after Jake's arm got hurt, he was done. Both the Big Cat and Foxxy gave him the chance to come back but he did not have the physical talent anymore.

Cleveland made a bad decision - my guess is that he will never be any good for any NFL team again ... sad but we have to face the truth.

As for Panthers, expect for Clausen to make some 'rookie' mistakes, but he is a savvy guy and will learn from them and, if we have patience, we will be glad we got him.

    • Yes, it tells me they’ve improved significantly from sitting at what, 30-31st in the league on the PP to 11th now.
    • I wanted someone to hire him so we got the picks, but I'm also not upset that he'll now be back. I genuinely don't understand why so many fans on here dislike him so much.  No, he's not perfect and made some mistakes this year, especially at the end of the playoff game and going so soft in coverage on the final drive. But considering this place torched him all offseason for us having the "worst defense in NFL history" last year.  Said in the whole pre-draft process how we had to go defense in round 1 because of it and then complained the rest of the offseason that we didn't do enough to improve the defensive roster. How do people say all that about the defense and then complain when he turned that same unit into a pretty respectable defense this year.  They were really the only reason we were in a lot of games for most of the season, as the middle part of the season they really stepped up and were playing like one of the better defenses in the league. I don't see any reason we can't improve even more next year if we spend another offseason focusing on adding pieces on that side of the ball, which we should be able to do with our draft picks and cap space.
