John Fox's greatest decisions

Matt Foley

What do you think?

* Drafting Peppers

* Starting Peete over Weinke in first season (established conservative, win with defense MO)

* Keeping Kasay over Shayne Graham

* Replacing Peete with Delhomme after one bad half

* Letting Trgovac go finally, replacing him with Meeks

* Letting Henning go finally (hey, that's what the fans wanted)

* Letting Crossman go finally

Trgo was one of the meanest people I think ever worked for the Panthers.

With that said, of the few times I met him he was really nice to me.

Had some good conversations with him.

Not sure why. Guess I just had that "it" factor.

Maybe I should play QB.

He hated kids, though, it seemed.

I like his decision to clap when our team fumbles....

Actually, Fox's loyalty to his players and his tendency to encourage them no matter the situation is one of the things that has made him successful. Most of his players over the years have loved him. When you love your coach you will play a lot harder for them than for some dick who freaks out everytime you make a mistake. These are professional athletes, they don't need someone yelling at them to let them know that they shouldn't fumble the ball.

Yeah. He and Henning were opposites. Henning was a friendly old guy who had all the confidence in the world. He'd flat out tell you if he had enough talent on hand or not. Trgo seemed to be afraid of what everyone thought of him. And he carried it around with him, too. But you'd never hear him rip one of his players.

We, the fans, asked for Henning's head for so many years because of what we deemed as his anemic offense.

In comes Davidson, and many are calling for his head because of what we deem as an anemic offense.

Did anyone watch the Dolphins/Jets game last night? Jets have a pretty decent defense. Was that an anemic offense?

The problem IS Fox/Hurney.

    • It's definitely a historical issue at QB but to be perfectly blunt, we also don't do a good job of really developing almost any position if you look at the last decade or so. I tend to be on the side of that being far less a development issue than an evaluation deficiency.  I think we are in the situation at QB2/3 recently due to the overall roster being absolutely abhorrent and the QB classes being quite thin. It is harder to justify another Matt Corral(or several) when you can potentially get a real two deep contributor at other positions.  But, it was a lot of hard work to get to the point where are roster is so incredibly bad that luxury picks literally are not in our vocabulary.  This is the reaping what you sow portion of our history.
    • That is what I meant about our front office. They are like someone filling out a March Madness bracket based on preference of uniform colors and mascots. There's no rhyme of reason to some of these fugg'n mind numbing decisions they make.  They go all in on these flimsy-@ss prospects and are gun shy when it comes to more solid prospects.  It's literally maddening and the reason I stopped being so emotionally involved in this team. Heck the only reason I'm active on the board today is one, it's my day off and two, it's cut down time.
