The Official "How To Explain To The Wife Thread"

Recommended Posts

So I raced home from work telling my wife I couldn't stop and get dog food or milk because this (MNF Vs. The Bucs) was the biggest regular season game The Cats have had. Now, only 2 weeks later, I'm going to be spitting that same line when they play the Giants and she wants me to mow the lawn.

I know I'm not alone on this, anyone have suggestions on how to explain that the Giants game is really the biggest regular season game now? This is gonna take a lot of Saturday Honey-Do list completion I suppose.

lol, I don't get that dynamic at all, never have.

maybe use an analogy featuring something she really loves to do?

Good call. I'll explain that it is like the Sale of the year at Macy's, only to have an even bigger sale of the year at Nordstrom's 2 weeks later. Very good call fireball...

Get her a copy of this so she can start to understand football http://www.amazon.com/Your-Damn-Beer-Watching-Game/dp/B000SOVC7S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1228957627&sr=1-1

If that doesn't work do what I did to my husband. (Insert favorite...)

My husband is a die hard UNC basketball fan. He called me crazy when I stayed in bed for 2 days after the Panthers lost the Super Bowl. I proceeded to torture him every time UNC lost the following season. Now he is well trained. Empathy CAN be learned! :)

    • I'm looking at the schedule and I see a 10+win season easy.  I think Carolina goes undefeated in the division.  I also believe that the Bears, Bengals, Lions, Browns, Steelers are very winnable.  Revenge game with phillips and the eagles could be a win.  Honestly only 2 games I see as chalking up a L to off the bat is the Seahawks and Broncos.
    • I guess so. Don't think I was involved with previous discussions.  Tepper is one of the newest owners in the NFL. Dan is going into his 3rd season as a GM - ever. Dave is going into his 3rd season as a HC - ever. Before becoming a HC, he was an OC/playcaller for one season total. Idzik is about to go into his 1st year as a play caller - ever. WRs are rookies, sophomores and 3rd year guys - though the experienced 3rd year guys are XL and Coker (who has missed a ton of games). TEs are guys going into their 2nd and 3rd seasons, and Tommy Tremble - though Sanders has missed a ton of games. QB has played 3 years. Chuba is an experienced RB, but Brooks and Etienne have taken very little snaps at the position. O-line is more experienced vets with some talent - which is HUGE. Need them to stay healthy. I mean the offense is very young in every aspect except O-line. You see it differently?
