Steve Smith Rumor *already dismissed*

Doesn't work this way.

The deal for Vincent Jackson that fell through was a 2nd and a 4th.

NE is looking at Vincent Jackson btw

Oh, lol, I know. I was being completely facetious.

For me to get rid of Smith, it would take:

Brandon Tate OR Julian Edelman AND a 3rd OR 4th.

Steve Smith in New England's short passing offense=Nightmare for opposing defenses :(

I agree. Smith could be truly special in that offense.

I'd hate to see Smitty go but he deserves the right to go if he wants. It should be up to him. That being said, Smitty please don't go!

I'm not calling you specifically out here, but it seems many of us -- myself included -- empathize with Smith more than we did with, say, Julius Peppers. Is it because we feel Smith was truly underutilized and failed to reach his potential here, but we don't believe Peppers when he essentially said the same?

they have the picks and I know it is hard for some to hear it but I would do it. We ARE a rebuilding team and we need as many picks as we can get...bash away at me

I agree. I stick firm to a 1st and 3rd with a little flexability in the 3rd, but any trade who have to involve a #1. SS is not someone we want to rid ourselves of as (i believe) was the case with Moss.

    • After last season, it was the same question. And the answer most people came to was "If he doesn't make the playoffs, he's gone." He made the playoffs. No matter how it was done, we made it to the playoffs. He's safe. He's going to have a chance to keep working this out, even if next season isn't a playoff one.  I think we'll do better next year than we did this season. There's something being built here.
    • The NBA is a very fickle league. Kon is one of the hottest rookies in years and beyond just his play on the court he is a very steady competitor and that translates to the rest of the team. That has been a glaring absence with the culture of this franchise through the bulk of the LaMelo Ball years that's just being completely blunt and realistic. The enigma of LaMelo Ball is he is entering year 6 and still either red hot or ice cold. We need him to find that sweet spot. Logic dictates the Hornets will want to see this core again next year. But the clock is beyond ticking at this point. It's put up or shut up. Especially considering what the Thunder managed to do recently. I'm hopeful they can keep these wins rolling in and get some much needed playoff experience under their belts which will help substantially.
    • I think as long as the Panthers are competitive with Canales they should keep him. Pepper needs to repair his/the teams image as a place prized free agents aren't hesitant to consider. Just dont do any crazy poo for a few years.
