Support your Panthers!!!

I'm facing the prospect of perhaps missing my first home game in 16 seasons ... not because of the poor play of the Panthers, but because I may be in a cast (foot) by tomorrow afternoon. I've dragged a boot and an aching foot to two games already this season. Not sure I'm up to dragging a cast, especially since I'm usually the driver, and a cast on my right foot may preclude that. Damn, I hate breaking my streak, though.

One reason I'm responding to this thread.. romanticize your "fanhood", but I'm not buying it..

welcome Cubs fans who have proven paying money in support of your team no matter what is the best solution..

and I'm not saying never support your team who might be in a slump..

this may not apply to this year.. to some it may.. I'm still going to watch every week..

understand this.. on the most basic level... if your team sucks year in and year out.. do not support your team no matter what..

there are times fickle fans prove worthy of fan status.. Ownership has no need to do whatever it takes to win if fans show up no matter the result is on the field..

you can tally up all your "fanhood" points at the end of the season, but that doesn't mean poo if your team is trash..

Unfortunately, this type of thinking will see the Panthers relocated to another city.

Think about being a Detroit fan for a minute. Sure... you've got the sole distinction of being the only 0-16 team. Sure, you've not had a winning season in way too long...

But damnit, you've got the NFL in your town. That's worth something. You can cry about records all day, but if the Lions became, say, the Wichita Lions, or the Fresno Lions... all those years of fanhood have been wasted on a team that is no longer down the street, but across the nation.

We need to support this team regardless of the decisions of the management our record, or anything else. It's a privileged to have the Panthers here. There are dozens of other cities that could support a franchise, and would love to have one.

you put out a good product, you make money.. you put out a shitty product, it's highly likely in all areas of life, you're going to lose money..

To put that on the fans isn't fair. A good owner will do his job and ensure the fans get what they DESERVE, which is quality football..

If you're team gets relocated it's due to a shitty owner, not solely because fans aren't showing up because you're tired of watching trash..

don't confuse the 2.. because a shitty owner is a shitty owner regardless if fans are showing up or not...

look at the Browns.. look at the Hornets.. look at the Baltimore Colts... teams leave regardless of attendance.. so please, don't live your life out of fear of loss...

a good/great owner isn't going to ship the team elsewhere because fans expect a consistently above average team..

What do you think... he's going to be outraged because fans hate the smell of trash? like, "OMGZZZz.. these fans have no respect.. they hate trash!"

by no means am I saying you're team will never leave.. but the writing is on the wall long before you stop showing up to games...

..sometimes its the fans job to show up and boo the home team

tough love is still love

lol.. I would agree about booing but I don't think the players deserve it so much as the people who make all the decisions.. one way or the other booing on the field falls on the players.. not supporting your team financially falls on the decision-makers..

Right now, Goodell is pushing for the Raiders to move... because of attendance...

Don't think the same won't happen if the Panther's fan base doesn't stop acting like cry-babies.

look at the owner..

I wouldn't support the owner over the majority of the past decade.. this year might be different though.. they look a tad different...

like I said, look at all the teams who moved regardless of attendance.. you can't live in fear my boy! ;)

I'd rather have something respectable to cheer for than poo year in and year out..

if that meant they moved.. I would hate it.. no doubt, I would hate it.. but I'm not sacrificing the money I make to an owner who wouldn't give a f**k..

this is all of course hypothetical.. I do think Richardson cares.. I believe he's between a rock and a hard place with the lockout and resigning the coaching staff isn't a smart move at this point... so you're left with what we have..

but I think Richardson also needs reminded that we won't put up with mediocrity anymore than we already have over the last 5 years...

So would I. Again... I'm pissed about what all has gone on.

But to me, that just means to me we need to step up as fans, not turn our back to the team.

He is encouraging them to share a stadium with the 49ers. Kind of different than moving

I'm assuming you are talking about going to games. If you have done this whole diatribe and you don't actually attend games i will be sorely disappointed.

For a lot of fans the $$ spent on the game is painful. people bitch about taking their family to the movies. For someone with good tickets you may be rocking up a few grad a year on games. Not to mention a lot of time.

An analogy would be your best friend opens a really expensive restaurant in town. So out of loyalty you eat there once a week. But the food starts to suck one day. Of course you are honest with him and let him know and keep going. But if the food never gets better you might stop spending a bunch of money each week even though its your buddy.

Oh no... fug no... any chance I get, I go. I went to the Saints game at the end of last year. I had a shot at some tix for the Bears game. They wound up going to someone else I know though. If I had the money I'd own a luxury box.
