Matt Moore = MVP!

Moore looked great, not trying to take anything away from him, but let's give him some more games before we declare him MVP please... lol, MVP...

Word. We beat the 49ers, so let not crown him a MVP yet. The rest of the games is where we will see if Moore look like a MVP or not. Jake look almost like a MVP when we beat the Falcons at home last season.

i've talked a lot of poo about Moore. but that was a fantastic game on his part. i hope he plays like that every game. minus the pick.

true 'nuff. I agree. I didn't think he could do it, and I was wrong. Didn't think anyone could make the Panthers score 23 points.

23 points for the Panthers is like 50 for other teams, I think... so... good job to him and to his receivers :) The chemistry was crazy good today. Better than I've seen in a long time between receivers & a qb.

two sides to that coin. Moore started 8 games entering this year and looked to be a pretty dang good QB for what we do.

However, people opted to let the first 7 quarters of this season define him.

Moore is what he is. A decent QB. Fox screwed this team benching him week 2. It was an illogical move then....and as the season goes on it will continue to look like a horrific call by Fox. I could see Carolina finishing in a position where 3 games make a difference......and then we will have to look at the wasted Clausen games. Fox has mismanaged More consistantly.....not playing him sooner in 07 and 09 and then pulling in week 2 of this year. Horrific.

How was it a horrific call?

Moore has said himself that getting benched made him go back look at the tape and see his mistakes and get better. So in the end it was a good call by Fox because it gave Moore a chance to see and correct him problems.

it's really hard to say. tbh, I would be curious to see how we would be if we had sat him against TB, then brought him back the next week and let him play through the bye. but then again, we mighta been starting Clausen in this game and who knows...

too hard to call. Moore said sitting helped, so I think it was a good thing to do.

Steve Smith was a detriment today.

Learn football before you type Smith open things up for the rest of the wr. The other wr beat single coverage today without Smith they would have seen tighter coverage. Gettis would have had 2 play against the best CB instead of the 2nd best if Smith didn't play. Smith just being on the field makes def. take notice.

I was one of Moore's biggest detracters after he was benched. I am glad to see him play better and to show some of what we hoped he would be when the season started. If this is the Moore we get for the rest of the year then I will be happy.

However, this game does not exonerate him from the shitty play he had earlier in the season. The best thing for him was to get benched. He was wretched those first two games.

Seems like he took the benching with grace and used it as an opportunity to re-learn what got him the job in the first place.

If anyone is going to get an MVP from this game it is Gettis. That kid is quickly turning into the real deal.

How is Matt not exonerated from his 7 quarters of play? I agree Gettis was awesome, but he wouldn't have been in that same situation with any other QB on this team. Matt played like he did to finish last season. He has more than proved that he belongs. It was a big mistake pulling him after 7 quarters. All he needed was time. Unfortunately, he was forced to watch this organization throw the season out of the window when they started Clausen.

    • I have never seen this cat play a single snap of football, BUT, I really hope that we're not counting on a 25 yo, UDFA who played 6 years of college ball to suddenly replace our starting LB.  Sounds to me like Dean Jones needed a story and didn't have anything else to write about. Wishing the guy luck though, cool nickname.
    • I'll go 1 further than that. This 23 year old had spent 4 years as a middle of the pack college player before exploding onto the scene as a 5th year senior, then we have enough faith in him to trade up 1 spot so that we can get a 5th year option and guarantee his salary. So in about a year's time he went from a mid round pick to a first rounder. It would be hard NOT to let that go to your head! I'm going to trust that the staff know what they're doing with XL and not give him too much crap about being a dumbass LAST season, as long as he doesn't continue to be one.
    • From Brugler's scouting report... Tavareon “Bam” Martin-Scott picked up his nickname because of the fireworks celebration he typically receives to celebrate his birthday. He grew up playing pee wee football in Fort Wayne, Ind., but developed late and was mostly a part-time player until his senior year at Snider High (alma mater of Jessie Bates). He posted 87 tackles and 6.0 sacks as a senior in 2018, but it wasn’t enough to put him on the recruiting radar. A no-star recruit, he played two seasons with Dodge City (Kan.) Community College and then received several SEC offers. His playing time and production gradually increased each season for the Gamecocks, and he put intriguing flashes on film. Martin-Scott is a good-sized athlete, with pursuit speed to match races to the perimeter. He competes with a banger mentality to pinball off blocks and stay determined on his path to the ball. Overall, Martin-Scott freelances a tad too much with inconsistent steps in coverage, but he is a classic run-and-hit linebacker who likes to play loose and chase plays — necessary ingredients for NFL special teams. grade: Free Agent
