We're going to run the ball and beat the Rams on Sunday.

I can assure you, they'll play man ...

Rams are 6th in the NFL in sacks, 2nd in QB pressures ...

Chris Long, with 31, leads the NFL in QB pressures, and has more pressures than 5 NFL TEAMS ...

All of the above depends on well Bartell plays Smith early on in the game (If Bartell plays at all, if he does how effective will he be? He's injured right now, isn't he?) if they stick with man defense. TBH its the corner that will be on Gettis I have a question about, does he have the speed and length to keep up with Gettis???

Edit

Bartell the Rams corner that has shut down a couple of big time recievers this season has a bruised Thigh and a hurt shoulder going into this weekends game.

Lol ramsinfiniti.

Stop feeling like youre defense is all badass. Shaun Hill and the lions tore you guys up for 44 points along with a rookie rb. I'm ready for your pitiful excuses lol.

Bartell has a bruised thigh and shoulder stinger, but he returned in the Tampa game and made some plays ...

Fletcher will cover Gettis. He's a big, strong jammer, not blazing speed, but a long strider ...

Both are typical Spags corners: physical and aggressive ...

Fletcher is a second year player, and one of our Nickels, Murphy, is a Rookie ...

We give up the bulk of our passing yards in zone. It's a trade off for very effective zone blitzing ...

I think the running games will decide this matchup. Jackson WILL play ...

We were badly outplayed here ...

No other team has scored more than 18. Lost the other three games by 6 points total ...

Which is the better indicator ?

They do have a DVOA of 1.9 which is pretty good, thats counting the Lion drubbing they recieved...every team has an off day... That Ram defense is actually pretty good at coverage... Like I said in my other post, the only thing I would be worried about is Fletcher on Gettis and if Bartell is completely healthy enough to cover Smith effectively.

That said I still see the panthers putting up 21 and winning a close game.

Only team that I can recall played Smitty lately with man coverage was Revis when we played the Jets last year. That would be a blessing for us if y'all played man against us now. Check out the footage last week of Gettis breaking the ankles of the corners he played man against. He's going to be great in do time.

But seriously, the rams should be very good by now? Y'all have had the 1st overall pick the last 5 years right? I mean come on...

    • You're correct (on its face). But PFF does indeed use advanced stats to come up with their grades. Not trying to turn this into a debate about PFF (at all because it's been done ad nauseum), but here is how PFF explains it:   GRADES VS. STATS We aren’t grading players based on the yardage they rack up or the stats they collect. Statistics can be indicative of performance but don’t tell the whole story and can often lie badly. Quarterbacks can throw the ball straight to defenders but if the ball is dropped, you won't see it on the stat sheet. Conversely, they can dump the ball off on a sequence of screen passes and end up with a gaudy looking stat line if those skill position players do enough work after the catch. PFF grades the play, not its result, so the quarterback that throws the ball to defenders will be downgraded whether the defender catches the ball to notch the interception on the stat sheet or not. No amount of broken tackles and yards after the catch from a bubble screen will earn a quarterback a better grade, even though his passing stats may be getting padded. The same is true for most positions. Statistics can be misleading. A tackle whose quarterback gets the ball out of his hands quicker than anybody else may not give up many sacks, but he can still be beaten often and earn a poor grade. Receivers that are targeted relentlessly could post big-time numbers but may offer little more than the product of a volume-based aerial attack. https://www.pff.com/grades So PFF uses stats to come up with player grades and rankings.
