Was that the dumbest coaching call ever?

I don't think anything will ever top Marty Mornhinweg's decision to have the Lions go on defense after winning an overtime coin toss.

Shanahan's decision wasn't great either, but Marty still owns that crown.

It has to be in the team photo though.

Marty made a really bad call, but TBH if Lovie had a situation like that and did the same thing, and came back with the logic "I thought our defense was dominant, playing better than our offense, had a chance to score almost equal to our offense, and our ST is a threat to score every time on the ensuing punt" I'd have to pause for a few moments given this Bears team and its anemic offense.

After a few moments I'd dismiss it as bullpoo.

Shanny can't even get a few moments of pause with his reasoning.

Cardio? Really? The guy had played the previous 58 minutes, ran for 45 yards and seemed fine.

Rex knows the 2 min drill better? How? Taking reps with the 2nd team doesn't lend itself to working on the drill at all. If posters on their message boards are to be believed (ha) Rex hadn't worked on it with the first team AT ALL.

So Shanny is either...

lying (most likely)

covering for his son (also possible)

wanted to bench Donovan anyway (why?)

made one of the worst coaching blunders I have ever seen (my choice).
