CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP)—New Orleans Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey(notes) has left the stadium in an ambulance with injured ribs after scoring a touchdown on his 500th career catch.

Shockey caught a 7-yard TD pass from Drew Brees(notes) late in the first quarter Sunday before he was hit hard by Carolina’s Charles Godfrey(notes). Shockey staggered to his feet and then walked to the locker room.

Just before halftime, Shockey was spotted walking from the locker room to the back of an amberlamps while dressed in street clothes. There was no further word on his condition.

The milestone catch gave Shockey 33 touchdowns in his nine-year career.

Rough game. He took a shot and the hospital visit was a precaution. I think he was back to the stadium before the game was over. Shockey still has the bad boy image from NY but he is a good guy that once matured and away from the NY media has been great.

    • Been a week for harsh off topic news... The shooting that happened in New York City today was at 345 Park Avenue, the building that houses the NFL's main offices. No indication that anyone related to the NFL was hurt though. At least, not that I've seen.
    • DL good,but secondary sucks,emmmm...
    • A big part of getting into the Hall of Fame is having somebody among the voters, most commonly an influential member of sports media, lobbying hard for your induction. Not sure how many of our guys would have someone like that. Heck, some players even have people working as hard as they can to keep them out.  (Peter King with Art Monk, for example)
