Fiz's 7 point plan

I think Clausen should just start the rest of the year regardless of how he plays. He'll either get better and we'll have us a QB or we'll know we need to use our top 3 pick on one.

Let me save you the suspense: the Panthers need to spend their top 3 pick on one.

If Luck isn't available I wouldnt have a problem with them drafting DaQuan Bowers. Is like them to sign a starting defensive tackle or two like Barry Cofield and Brandon Mebane. That would make our defensive line a strength again.

I also think Billy Volek, James Jones, and Jacoby Jones all are free agents.

Big fan of Frazier fo sho.

If possible, trade down to 5-9. Try to nab a 2nd rder(or 3rd) along with that pick to add depth.

I agree on a FA WR and I would also toss in a FA CB or SS. We are always too young back there and it bites us.

Get a steady and solid FA QB(sounds familiar) and trade one of the qb's we have and I TOTALLY agree on Clausen being horrid. Said that a few weeks ago and even more so now.

I agree with del that we need a lineman. We can get a solid one in that 5-9 range and if we are able to grab another pick, use that to fill another hole.

I do hope we do NOT go after a retread coach. I posted some time ago that the odds of the re tread taking a team to the SB is low.

Based on the way JR has done things tihs year, I imagine he goes young at coach and this is his reset for the franchise the next 10 yrs.

we're getting like a 3rd pick. Luck might not be be on the board :(

I think we will have the #1 pick.

Bills are losing some close games and can score...they will win a couple.

We will NOT win another game.

If we can't get Luck, I would take Patterson. Guy is a beast in the secondary and is a fantastic punt returner....two birds, one stone.

It's just hard for me to judge a rookie QB's performance with what we have to work with on offense.

You can't fix release point. You can't fix throwing motion. You can't fix release.

I continue to be amazed at how terrible all of these things are for Jimmy. I'll admit I only really watch SEC football so I never saw him play that much, but it's incredible.

Why oh why could this not have happened last year when the draft was actually good.

Yeah this is a really bad draft to not have 4 2nd round picks in.

But it is incredibly top heavy, and I think the Panthers would be better suited to go for the long ball so to speak then try to trade down. You run the risk of missing out on prince, peterson, and fairley. It's not like that DE from Clemson is going to play for this team.

Hey Fiz, does the plan include what to do with armanti Edwards? If we bring in. Another receiver or two there may not be room for him?

That all depends on what the future coaching staff wants to do with a player who lacks ideal size and strength and isn't ready to contribute at any position in the NFL.

Honestly it's pretty inconsequential. We're not losing because of Armanti Edwards.

    • overall agree on the draft grade as a whole on on each pick, but every time I read (and I have read it more than once) that we "gave up two firsts" for Bryce, I am confused. We gave up the 2024 first, but we swapped 2023 firsts, so we didn't give up anything there. We did give up our former first rounder in DJ, but I don't think thats what you mean as one of the "firsts" we gave up.
    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
