Equalizer - The Movie

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Looking around online and saw there's talk of a movie version of the old Edward Woodward show, "The Equalizer".

It was a great show, but it worked as much as anything because of Woodward's ability to convince you that an Englishman in his mid-fifties was so badass he could rip your heart out.

Who is there now that could fill that role?

Didn't he get sick for 1/2 a season? I can't remember who filled in for him. It wasn't Robert Mitchum was it?

Douglas Hinshaw (Primeval) could pull it off, I think. Not as old as Woodward was, and he's Welsh or Scottish, but he could pull it off.

If it's big budget, how about THE MAN! Sean Connery? Again, Scottish not English.

The music on the show was done by Stuart Copeland, isn't that the drummer for the Police??

I've got the theme music on my iPod. It was a strange little show. Kinda dark for it's era of TV.

Don't know how good of a movie it will make though. (and they sorta have movies about what the Equalizer did. See.. Death Wish series.)

Oh... and I just read Russell Crowe is leading the push to make the movie, and wants to be Robert McCall. Kinda sounding bad from that alone.

Sean Connery. Clint Eastwood. They're both in their 70s/80s and they could still fug most people up.

I'm sure there's someone out there.

Someone elsewhere suggested Sean Bean.

He's 51, but doesn't really look it. Might have the acting chops and the necessary menace, but I'd like someone who looked a little older.

No on Connery or Ian McKellen though. Not that old.

Saw Liam Neeson's name thrown out there. Someone also suggested Ricky Gervais (can't see that one).

    • I think that looked much better on Bryce's part than tmacs.  He made a really good adjustment to the ball but his separation is what is always going to worry me, he had absolutely none with Jackson on that play, Bryce threw him open.
    • I wouldn't be mad at it. I often call Luke "the best ILB that I've ever seen," and I've watched the game in earnest since I was nine, but I think there is more going on with Steve Smith---meaning it's political---than perhaps should be. I understand that he was not the nicest person---an asshole at times basically. People don't or didn't like him. That being said, he's still 8th all time in receiving yards, ahead of guys who have their gold jackets:   * Marvin Harrison (9th)  * Andre Johnson (11th)  * James Lofton (12th)  * Cris Carter (13th)   At some point, Smitty has to be inducted solely based upon the numbers (not to mention producing big results at his stature in a big man's game). I can see the snub early due to his temperament, but I hope it doesn't become a "thing," and I don't think Panthers fans, or NFL fans in general, should stay silent about it if it does.
    • for those who can't see the Twitter post, I'm assuming this post is about the list published in February with Greg and TD?    https://sports.yahoo.com/10-great-nfl-players-eligible-035121461.html
