I honestly think Newton is the best quarterback out there. Cam Newton is an alter ego of Josh Freeman except better. A lot of people thought Freeman was garbage and wasn't going to be able to make it in the big league. However, he has the Bucs in playoff position. Newton has the size of Joe Flacco and Donavan McNabb, the quicks of Mike Vick and Vince Young, and the arm strength of Ben Rothlisberger and Jason Campbell. Yes, I said arm strength, people don't give Cam enough credit as a passer. However, this video should help persuade some thoughts about Newton's accuracy on the deep ball and his ability to throw the deep ball.

Most scouts tend to think that both Mallett and Locker are going to come off the board ahead of Newton and if that holds true it's very likely he drops all the way to the 2nd round.

He's still too raw for me to want to spend a top 10 pick on but if we can get him in the 2nd and stockpile a huge amount of picks along the way then that could go far into turning this team around really quickly.

If we've decided to move on from Clausen, I wouldn't mind seeing us trade down from the #1 overall spot for a package of picks (top 10 pick, future 1st, 2nd and 5th). Plus you'd have a 2nd or 3rd (most likely) from trading Clausen. Go after Cam in the 2nd use most of those extra picks on offense to build around him.

I would definitely be on board to see us make some big moves like that, though we don't have the FO that's really known for making those types of plays.

I didnt get to see the entire game last night but I caught clips here and there and Luck had an outstanding game. 4 TDs, 28 for that year. He looked to be very accurate out there, so dude is no bum. I would still take Cam and what he's done over SEC competition though. Cam should be the first QB taken off the board.

Luck is the best qb prospect since manning,he is literally the prototype nfl qb he has it all. And while at the collegiate level newton has been phenomenal he is a extremely raw prospect with character issues.

Character Issues? He isn't the prime suspect of the investigation, that would be his father. Newton did not take money from anyone, his dad I am not so sure of. The only reason people like Luck more than Cam as far as NFL Ready is because Luck is a pocket quarterback as where Cam likes to scramble.

I don't care if your Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, or Andrew Luck...If your a pocket QB you will not make it for the Panthers unless you can get a throw off from the pocket in 2 seconds. If the Panthers take Luck they are going to put him in a vunerable position especially with the weak tackle and guard class coming out. However if they take Newton, they are giving a mobile quarterback a chance to thrive on a sub par offensive line. However, Newton's ability to move in and out of the pocket gives him the advantage over Luck as a Panthers prospect.

It's difficult to say that Cam Newton can be an NFL Quarterback. I'm not saying that he can't, but the style of offense he plays doesn't transition well. Similar to The Golden Calf of Bristol.

Newton's passing abilities rely on him getting the defense to creep up because he's going to run 20+ times. In nearly every game this year he has rushed more times than he has passed. He takes advantage of a lot of short routes with his receivers in space because the defense is so confined around the line of scrimmage.

He has tremendous upside, and might transition well to the pros, but it's a scary pick if you want him in the 1st.
