Game 18: Bobcats @ Hornets

You're that sick of LB Rico? I think we could do alot worse than him. In fact, I know we can.

Those comments he made before the season, and the fact that Jordan basically had to talk him into staying never gave me the sense of commitment that we can usually expect from LB.

And LB is not some untouchable Coach like a Sloan, or Pop. When his time is gone, his time is gone.

I feel that his time is done. At least here.

This team's problem, it can't run a half-court offense effectively. How many prayers are launched at the shot-clock because everyone is standing in one spot trying to swing it to an open jump shooter. Even with Jack in the lineup this doesn't change much.

They stall too long before they get into their sets, and when the defense hedges on a screen and roll, or throws on a trap, then we get into extra passes and shot-clock violations. Sad.

The reason they don't run a very effective Half court is

1. Teams generally have an aggressive GTG that can shoot pretty good

The Bobcats do not, the closest thing they have is Jax and his shot is extremely inconsistant... Wallace while an all star SF and probably the 2nd or 3rd best SF in the league isn't exactly a scorer, he's a glue guy... He does a lot of everything..

All you have to do deffensively is collapse the paint on a drive and force the team into jump shots, there isn't any one on the team that can hit them consistantly.

2. The Cats don't have a legit Low post guy on the team.... Brown is more defensive.... Thomas is more of an athletic guy, who is improving in the low post.... Need a Center who is a threat badly....

Augustine has impressed me so far and is deffinitely improving though and should be a very good PG by the end of the season...should end up being far superior to Felton in just about everything but defense.

I agree they need to deal Diaw for a low post guy of some sort.... Don't know how... Wouldn't be sad to see Sjax go in a trade either if it gets something decent in return.

    • The good news is that we are pretty uniquely well established to address all of our needs this season. We have $14m real cap space, and something like $40m in trade deadline cap space. Not sure exactly how that works out. But, we have the room to absorb any bad contracts. With recent rule changes regarding retention, that went into effect this season, we now have a huge advantage in the trade market.  On top of that, while we do have obvious needs, we also have a glut of talent in certain areas that we struggle to find ice time for. We are over-stocked on scrappy talented lil-guys, strong defensively sound 3rd liners and shutdown left shot dmen. Whether it's a package or separate deals, idk. But, one of each from Stank/Blake/Nads, Erob/Carrier/KK/Jank, and Walker/Nystrom; throw in some 1st round picks (and frankly any other prospects they want) and we should be able to come out with a 1b to pair with Bussi and either a 2c with size or a 2c and size.   TL/DR We got the money, you got the stuff?
    • I don’t  think 6’4 was ever considered small or undersized. Baby hands tho, yes that was his thing That’s an interesting idea, like an optical illusion? Sounds like you have personal experience with this!
    • in the 25' draft the Carolina Panthers had hired Brandt Tillis someone who actually understood how to build a successful team & build through the draft .  this team was yes mismanaged for years prior to Brandt Tillis joining the team in 25' & rarely done anything right in the draft outside occaionaly getting lucky on an UDFA such as Jalen Coker who's dad coincidentally happened to be a huge Carolina Panthers fan, hint hint  ...just saying
