Melo to Bobcats?

not happening. the cats have to build through the draft first, then through trades, then free agency(once free agents will want to come to charlotte). I like MJ, but god damn has he screwed us over in the draft

Build through the draft? Are you kidding me? Our draft picks have been pathetic at best. We are the WORST drafting team in the league.

With Jordan at the helm, we'll always be bottom feeders on draft day. And as far as trading Melo to the Knicks, the reason Denver won't do that is because what do the Knicks have to give? They just got Felton and Amare and they certainly won't gove that up. The Knicks just aren't attractive trade partners

That's just it though...even if Melo wong resign him leaving clears up alot of cap space. Now the big names may not sign here but you could go for a youth movement. Couldn't MJ also trade Melo to the knicks and get alot of stuff from them?

Yes we could... MJ i think knows the deal. Its almost a guarantee Melo wont sign an extension with the Bobcats but this is also a perfect opportunity to blow poo up. Its clear cut that the team we have on floor will be at best a 7-8th seed with a 1st round exit. I say MJ gets Melo (by the way , if these rumors of him wanting to go to ONLY the Knicks is true, since when did Melo have any say in where he wants to be traded? he has no, no trade clause. So his preference on where he wants to go doesnt mean anything.) Bobcats can offer a better package for Melo than the Knicks have. Even if its getting rid of G Force, D Brown, Diaw , Henderson. Do it. Cap space, and maybe Melo would assist MJ in doing a S&T to the Knicks.

Yeah if anything it gives us cap space. That's why I am for it. In terms of future, our organization is is bad shape. So start now by clearing some cap space by getting an expiring in Melo.

But what I keep reading is that Nuggets want young talent more than anything. What do we really have to offer besides Thomas, and he's the one player I think is untouchable on this team. Wallace is relatively young but has been around for like 10 years. That's why Nets seem like a likely trading partner because of Favors and draft picks. But would they want to give Favors up for a rental.

no I am not kidding you. I know we are terrible at drafting. That is why A) We can't build a strong foundation, and B) no free agents want to come here. This has got to be changed before anything.

So while you can steam in a sauna of negativity, I'd rather examine the things that need to be fixed in order to build a more successful franchise.

Unless of course you think MJ can swing us a championship caliber team with little to no pieces to trade with.

Havent read all the posts, sorry if someone already said this, but we can't forget the CP3 factor, seeing as him and melo have both said that they want to play together. If we could get Melo to stay for a while, then pick up CP3, and perhaps a real center in FA(or in a year from now when Dwight Howard is a free agent, knock on wood), this team could be dangerous. I think we need to keep TT if possible tho, as a starter at the 4(32 min a game) he would be averaging right around 18 points, 9 boards, 2 blocks and a steal a game. Btw how are we still not starting TT seeing as he is averaging half a point less, more rebounds, and more blocks than Diaw, while playing 16 less minutes?

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
