Wanting the team to lose is actually a great attitude

I just want what's best for the team. I hope we can win another game or two and still get the #1 pick, but the chances of that happening are unlikely. It's tough really. It doesn't make me upset anymore when we lose because of this. However, at the same time, every time I see a bad play happen, I find myself shaking my head. Likewise, every time we have a great play I find myself getting excited.

the big picture is the team needs more than one player.

dt is just as desperately needed as qb.

the fact is...more picks is a bigger priority than the number 1 overall.

That is so unbelievably wrong. People on this board overvalue the defensive line. There is a reason that DTs NEVER go #1 overall. Just for example here are a few of the recent top DTs taken compared with the top QB

Sam Bradford vs. Gerald McCoy (who do you think means more to his team)

Matt Ryan vs. Glenn Dorsey (same)

Lets go really old school and say Peyton Manning vs. Grant Wistrom, Greg Ellis, or dare I say...Jason Peter. I would trade every single pick in the draft if it meant getting Andrew Luck. That is how good I think he's going to be and that is how bad I think our QB situation is right now. People blaming this season on the defense are clueless and should be embarrassed to be calling for players other than Andrew Luck or even Ryan Mallett for that matter.

who said anything about drafting a dt first overall?

who's blaming the defense for this season?

It all comes down to the fundamental personality type of the fan.

Idealistic and rigid personality's are the people who say that you should win every game and not worry about draft positions. I.e. "real fans"

Pragmatic thinking people, such as myself, and the majority of people on here understand the necessity of a quality QB and the opportunity with Luck. I am actually wanting them to lose, but I do at the same time, want them to play well and get better as a team.

the problem i have is the infuation with luck.

when i see footage of the kid...i like his size, mobility, and aggressivness, but i see a qb that is playing behind a good o-line and with recievers who make plays on the ball. he also has a mentor to guide him.

NONE of that is in carolina.

fix those things and i would be more that happy to see carolina pick up a qb with their first pick....but fix the oline, sign a veteran qb and reciever.

if they don't prep for drafting a rookie qb, then don't be surprised if the greatest prospect in 20 years ends up looking like a bust.

Sam Bradford had one of the best collegiate O-lines ever, and tremendous skill players around him.

He went to the Rams, who everyone thought the entire team was poo(including myself), much like us, and he made the entire team better.

bradford was the final piece for rams. they didn't just draft him and all of a sudden everything was gravy.

they've been building for the past few seasons.

wut? Final piece?

he was the first piece.

I am sorry bud, but you are flat wrong.

It may seem like he is the final piece because of him raising the level of the teams play.
