So, it has apparently taken me this long to realize that I have this problem...

you obviously care because you're making this thread. but the only thing that can change is u. it seems like your wife doesnt give a shiit either no offense.

She does, but I think I have resisted it enough she doesn't even try anymore...

A lot of the problem is that I am too lazy... I love cooking, actually, but often consider it too much of a hassle, and I dread the cleanup... lol

Maybe that is what I should do... get into some kind of cooking thing where I make everything I eat from scratch, and with better ingredients...

one thing that helped me during my massive weightloss and life changes was cooking myself. i got into it. i really enjoy grilling, and thinking of different ways to flavor meats* instead of mayo and other crap. i love my fresh spices, peppers, onions, things i never used to eat, cause i THOUGHT i didnt like em' but i never gave em' a chance honestly. i went from 293 lardass to a heatlthy 216 now, and im still losing.

i love cooking, my wife is happier, she can wrap her legs around me again, and my 3 year old son is getting to enjoy good healthy home cooked meals from which he wouldnt normally be given the chance to enjoy

* = thats what she said

bro i stood on the scale and saw 293 and i said fug THAT NOISE. i didnt gain another pound. im not dying because im a lazy fug. and to be honest, i havent really worked out that much. i still eat good food, just smaller portions of it.

but dont go into it expecting a quick 1 week or 2 month diet. this has to be a LIFESTYLE CHANGE. i drink water daily, enjoy cooking smaller portions, and enjoy experimenting with different foods and spices. humans arent SUPPOSED to be 300 pounds.

Just make a change man. take control.

I have always considered myself a very picky eater. It is a running joke among a lot of my friends and family that I'm the "chicken tenders and fries" type of guy, regardless of what restaurant we're going to...

The thread about working out before work got me thinking, especially with how bad I have been feeling physically as of late, that I need to start eating a lot better and being a lot more active...

Growing up, and even still, I am allergic to a lot of foods... This obviously was/is a major factor in how I have been conditioned towards food... I see things as "safe" instead of safe and healthy...

Thinking about what I eat now is actually pretty sad... I could probably list every single thing I eat on one sheet of notebook paper, and the only variance would be the restaurant it comes from or the package it is wrapped in...

My diet really doesn't include any vegetables aside from starches or beans, rarely any fruits even though I love most of them, and is rich in fried/greasy things... It is a joke in a way, but it isn't really funny anymore...

I think I'm going to try and start fixing this, as I think it will make me feel/function better on a daily basis...

I don't know why it took so long for this revelation and for me to want to try and correct it... I just hope I'm not too far gone!

Monk? Is that you?

you can make your own crockpot meals that are healthy but still satisfying in the "meat and potatos" kind of way.

I have a big pot of chicken soup w/apples and spinach in the fridge the broth tastes amazing.

I make my own chicken broth but after that I just threw everything in the pot and simmered for about 45 mins. About 5 mins of labor. The rest was just waiting.

It's not that hard to eat healthy and I honestly don't feel that it's more expensive either. Time isn't a big requirement if you use slow cookers or just do quick stir fry kind of stuff.

It can actually be a really fun family activity.

even the clean up.

My kids like being "little chefs".

We put together something simple but reasonably fresh and healthy, and I clean it up.

Done and done.

Sadly, I find the clean-up very satisfying.

Must be the Kraut in me.

I think the important thing is not to just 'diet' but change your habits completely. Eat whole foods 90% of the time but allow for bad stuff every once in a while to keep your sanity. Go to the farmer's market frequently and make that food a majority of what you eat.

    • I’m not necessarily advocating sticking with Bryce. His highs show the ability is there, but there’s enough bad film out there to doubt that he can consistently enough play at a high enough level. But this video from Brett Kollman is a pretty good argument to give it a bit more time, whether that be rolling with Bryce just next year or picking up his 5th year option (not extending him).      The gist is that the structural (wider hashes) and rule (3 yd vs 1 yd thresholds for intelligible offensive lineman downfield penalties) differences in the college and NFL have led to wildly different play calling and scheme diets in college. There is much more shotgun and RPO calls in college and screen/quick throws. This simply doesn’t set up young QBs to be able to play under center, which is more preferred in the NFL due to RBs being able to more effectively run out of that formation.  They don’t know how to do it and have to learn. Yes, the NFL has trended more toward college style offense in the last decade or so, but it isn’t that pronounced and is more out of necessity than desire. And on top of all that, they ask the young QBs to do all this learning with coaching and other personnel churn going on around them.  Bad results lead to coaches getting fired and new ones with different ideas on scheme and footwork and different terminology and playbooks coming in. It makes it harder on those young QBs to learn.     So we may drop Bryce for a young QB starter in the draft and be in a similar situation. With a QB who is going to take years to learn how to operate in an NFL style offense and will struggle along the way.  So you have to weigh whether the struggles we see from Bryce are more due to this learning process vs solely physical limitations on his part. It’s almost undoubtedly a bit of both, but the answer to that question I think dictates your strategy at QB over the next few years. And of course, you have to consider what the alternatives available are.    I’m neither a Bryce hater or a Bryce Stan and I don’t have an answer to that question. But I do fear that if we move on from him, unless it’s for an established player, we’re just in for continued frustration on the QB front because it’s going to take a few years for a college QB to develop (Drake Maye’s don’t grow on trees).
    • The defense has pulled that feat off this season though.  Multiple times. offense has not had a single good first half all season.  Only and good opening scripted drive paired with disappointing play.  defense has been the actual unit you can measure real and consistent improvement IMO.  Still holes and flaws to it that aren’t going away until new bodies get here but they really are the story of the season IMO
    • One thing about RB's and LB's is they are going to get hurt. It's inevitable. Having a fresh Chuba is not a bad thing.  My only criticism of this entire situation is that I wish our staff would adjust personnel to matchup a little better. I think Chuba is a lot better than Rico against the stacked boxes we've seen the last two weeks. They are very different backs with very different strengths, and I love them both. Rico is so good at identifying the hole early, and hitting it full speed early. He's much better at breaking the big run. Chuba is a much more patient back, and finds 3 yards when there's nothing there better than Rico.  It's in no way a criticism of either, but I think Chuba would have had more success than Rico the way the Saints and Falcons attacked us from a Defensive standpoint.  When you put 9 in the box, often times there is no hole to attack.
