Why not just sign/trade for 1 of these guys next year instead of drafting QB?

We will need to bring in a veteran to help Luck. If Luck declares for the draft. I believe that you don't throw a rookie QB to the wolves right away. However the success of Matt Ryan and Sam Bradford has shot a hole in my theory.

Whether you start a rookie right away is always up for debate. Even so, you still need a veteran QB to help mentor a young signal caller. Not to mention someone that you can go to and win some games if the rookie struggles.

I wouldnt be surprised if we traded down and got 2 first rounders. We need DTs bad. Im starting to see some light in the Clausen situation. Once Smitty got in his head Clausen would look downfield first and I think he made some good throws when he had adequate time

All dependent on the direction the new HC is going with the team.

Option 1. If we go west coast offense, then you take Newton and make Armanti your #2QB.

Option 2. If we stay as a regular offense - then you take Luck, sign a veteran as #2 to mentor him. You keep Moore as #3 since he has the most experience of any of the remaining QB's

If Luck does not come out - you trade down to get some extra picks - draft TJ Yates and still get a veteran to mentor.

You got it all wrong. Newton and Edwards would be lost in a WCO. It requires a player to have great footwork, read progressions very quickly and is all timing. Neither of these guys have worked in that system and would need extensive retooling. Luck on the other hand has great footwork, already works in a system with 3, 5, and 7 step drops and reads defenses. He would do a much better job in that system as would Clausen.

Newton is going to need some work on his footwork, taking snaps from center and defensive reads but could in time develop in a very potent weapon. He would be best in a vertical passing game which allows him to use his accuracy and arm strength to its best advantage.

He attained a QB rating, 100.2 (in his first start), against one of the best teams in the NFL right now that we haven't eclipsed since nearly the same date of 2009.

Mediocrity?? I would've loved to have seen mediocrity this year rather than this BS. It would have at least been worth paying to see rather than feeling like my $ is being thrown directly down the toilet.

They aren't one of the best teams in the NFL right now because of their defense, especially their pass defense.

    • I think where they would be picked if redrafted before both classes have played enough football to really tell.  Baker literally looked like a washout with us after Cleveland gave up on him, then turned world beater with the Rams, got a prove it deal with the Bucs and has looked awesome ever since. Asking where Ward would’ve went had he went in ‘24 is just stupid.  I’m no GM, but I wouldn’t have taken Williams #1 either.  I would’ve taken Joe Milton way higher than he went.  I think Shadeur should’ve been a first round pick this year.  Point being, opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one.  It’s my opinion that Ward has that “something special.”  I get that feeling that he’ll be an even better pro than he was a collegiate QB because of whatever that quality is.  I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of people, especially being such an under appreciated first overall pick.
    • Where do we get our T-shirts and hats? Pretty sure this is the first championship ever in professional basketball or football in Charlotte!
    • Nice turnaround for Kon.  I’m still a little worried about his ability to create for himself and others, but it was SL.  Come regular season, he will playing a much different role and shots will be there for him.  He showed some reason for hope - and not just him, but the whole squad.  I suppose for the first time ever, we have drafted and acquired enough young talent that we actually not only competed for once, but won the whole thing in summer league.     Kon, Simpson, and Sims made all the difference.  Almost every year prior I felt we always struggled because we usually didn’t have a floor general/real PG to get us into offense.  This was such a breath of fresh air.  And look at us!  We finally are champions!😂
