Why the Panthers were never consistently successful under Fox

That rule was put in 04 right?

So we should have fired Fox after he was one of the only coaches to take a team to the playoffs and then the superbowl 2 years from 1-15?

And at that time Jake Delhome was unrefined but certainly looked like he could be the guy. He lit up the playoffs.

And if I remember correctly they drafted a CB 1st round in 04 and then signed one of the top CBs in free agency in 05, so it's not like they did not recognize the need for a competent CB.

Also owners should do nothing but own. The only reason we suck is because JR stepped in and made non football decisions.

I don't agree with anything in that post.

Our SB run was due in part to some of our offensive linemen using roids. We beat the Eagles in the playoffs that year due mostly to the fact that our CBs were getting away with obvious pass interference. Fox had the benefit of Sefert's high draft picks, and the miracle that is Steve Smith. If I were the owner, I would have stepped in and replaced Fox after the rule change. Jake would have continued to start, but he would have a high draft pick breathing down his neck. I'd try to keep Fox as DC, but his offensive style doesn't suit me. As owner, I wouldn't care if fans thought that owners making football decisions ruined teams.

That makes even less sense than your first post.

It's not Fox's fault he drafted well or had good players, it's a miracle!Any coach that wins due to good players is a fraud!

I guess the 5 yard contact rule was applied just to the Panthers? Every team was allowed plenty of leeway, it was an even field that didn't just benefit us.

Football is a team sport, and we didn't get to the SB largely in part due to a roided up offensive line. Again, panthers wern't the only team using roids either.

Jerry Jones of the Cowboys and Mike Brown of the Bengals are the only Owner/GMs in the league. Fans don't think owners stepping in ruins teams, they know it. JR is the main reason we are bad this season because he stepped up and made business decisions over football ones.

If you released a press release with all of those silly reasons trying to discredit Fox and fired him you would be laughed out of the NFL.

Brentson Buckner said in that game Tom Brady was pointing out who was doing what in defensive formations that they had never practiced before that week.

My opinion: If the truth were known, I'd be willing to bet "Spygate" was just the tiniest tip of the iceberg and the Pats are probably still getting away with quite a lot.

Don't you think others teams are doing the same thing? I mean, if they are cheating to that level, they should be winning pretty much every week and every year.

I think lots of teams are looking for an edge, but I think the Pats are better at it.

You still have to play the game, but video scouting like that is a lot bigger advantage than many will acknowledge.

    • I think where they would be picked if redrafted before both classes have played enough football to really tell.  Baker literally looked like a washout with us after Cleveland gave up on him, then turned world beater with the Rams, got a prove it deal with the Bucs and has looked awesome ever since. Asking where Ward would’ve went had he went in ‘24 is just stupid.  I’m no GM, but I wouldn’t have taken Williams #1 either.  I would’ve taken Joe Milton way higher than he went.  I think Shadeur should’ve been a first round pick this year.  Point being, opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one.  It’s my opinion that Ward has that “something special.”  I get that feeling that he’ll be an even better pro than he was a collegiate QB because of whatever that quality is.  I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of people, especially being such an under appreciated first overall pick.
    • Where do we get our T-shirts and hats? Pretty sure this is the first championship ever in professional basketball or football in Charlotte!
    • Nice turnaround for Kon.  I’m still a little worried about his ability to create for himself and others, but it was SL.  Come regular season, he will playing a much different role and shots will be there for him.  He showed some reason for hope - and not just him, but the whole squad.  I suppose for the first time ever, we have drafted and acquired enough young talent that we actually not only competed for once, but won the whole thing in summer league.     Kon, Simpson, and Sims made all the difference.  Almost every year prior I felt we always struggled because we usually didn’t have a floor general/real PG to get us into offense.  This was such a breath of fresh air.  And look at us!  We finally are champions!😂
