Carmelo Doesn't Want to Play Here, For Those That Didn't Already Know

Michael Jordan was interested in making an offer to acquire Carmelo Anthony until the forward informed the Bobcats owner through a representative that he had no interest in playing for Charlotte or signing an extension, according to sources.

The Bobcats figured they had little chance at signing Anthony to an extension, but they explored the possibility anyway given the forward's relationship with Jordan as one of his product line's top endorsers.

Anthony will earn about $6 million this season through the Jordan brand.

Charlotte forward Gerald Wallace and Boris Diaw have drawn significant trade interest, according to sources.

Sounds pretty cowardly if he did it through a rep considering the business relationship. Can't really be mad, but still, what a b*tch. I wonder how much longer he'll be a member of Jordan Brand?

Yeah he'll still be with Jordan. Honestly though, I don't get players. I've probably posted this before, but you'd think someone would like to go to a team, and become that team's best player of all time, and make it THEIR team. Guess not.

It's just something we're going to have to get used to. We're a mediocre sports town, and people don't want to play here. No one knows about this place. Unless we over-spend, or get lucky with a draft pick and THEN overspend, I don't know if we'll ever have a star.

I'm ready for everything to give up on the Melo thing though, it's not happening.

Have you ever been to another NBA arena?

How about:

Boston

Dallas

LA

Miami

Chicago

New York

...all have great arenas, atmospheres, and entertainment...

The second part to this argument is that the city of Charlotte cannot offer the type of flashy lifestyle as some of the cities on the list above...

Good point - I've been to two NBA arenas besides our own. Golden State in the late nineties (terrible) and Dallas about 6 years ago. Mark Cuban does the game experience thing right, not that like that's news or anything.

Fowler brought up the Melo to charlotte idea again now that NJ is out of the deal...just thought id bring it back up to banter purposes.

I saw that, don't know what Fowler is thinking. Melo already said no to Charlotte and Jordan. If Jordan did a deal, it would only be a half season rental; might help this year (some) but kill the future. We have to give up Wallace or Jax and more, and next year after Melo leaves, we got nothing.

    • My take on Darnold was always that he was fine with a good offensive line but would wilt under pressure with a poor line (Jets and Panthers). Seattle began the year w/ a pretty bad oline and they improved somewhat but Darnold is showing he is a pretty good qb. Imagine what the Panthers would be today with Darnold and without Bryce Young and all the wasted draft picks to get him.
    • Similar situation but that would be a better version than what we currently have. Sam isn't a franchise QB but he is a good bridge guy. Either Seatle finds a young guy to groom or they have hit their ceiling. They 100% can't put it on Sam's shoulders and expect to win but the team needs to carry less with him at QB to win vs what this team has to do with Bryce.
    • to me the post would suggest Sam Darnold was good last night because Seattle won in a wild game.   Which is what we do with Bryce Young.   Sam Darnold didn't play well last night.  Which is how he trends, goes to a new team.....looks okay and becomes classic Sam Darnold down the stretch.  Last 6 or 7 weeks old bad Sam is coming out a lot (and then a weird Atlanta game mixed in lol).
