Everybody in the NFL will be asking to trade up to #1. I mean, you have the 49'ers and now the Broncos in the running to get Harbaugh and god knows how many more teams might be looking to Harbaugh for coach. You know Elway would love to have Luck (where he played football and has very high hopes of) play for Denver. Alot of teams are going to seriously try and offer anything than can to trade up into #1 spot. I just hope our GM and owner don't fall to any pressure and trade away the pick. Hopefully (if Luck comes out) we can turn a blind eye to everything ever team is offering us for #1 and draft the man.

I agree but the more I read about Luck the more I think it all seems to good to be true. Things like this don't happen to our franchise...I have a feeling that we will miss out on Luck one way or another. Also I feel that the coaching decision will also leave a lot of us wanting more. Someone like Grimm or Rivera or Fewell seem to be the main names. I really just don't see the best case scenario (Harbaugh and Luck) coming to fruition.

I hope I'm wrong and simply being pessimistic.

While I understand the sentiment behind this thread, I don't know (yet) if I can agree with it. Yes, the prognosticators think Luck will be the next Manning or Ryan. However, the Carolina Panthers are much more than a QB away from being good. If someone comes with the right deal to drop down a few spots and pick up 1, 2 or 3 extra picks, you have to consider it.

No, you don't. The Colts could have traded away for Manning and picked up seven extra picks and they would have still been shitty this whole decade. You just don't pass up a kid like this. You take him and build aroun him via draft and free agency. Worst case scenario we have another mediocre year his rookie season and we get more high draft picks and build up even more.

Maybe there's a reason I'm not a GM, but I wouldn't trade a Manning or Brady for the best DT, best WR and some oline depth. Maybe that makes me foolish but the NFL is driven by QB's, the rules are centered around QB's, and QB's are babied to last 15+ years in the league. You just can't lose that because someone throws some extra ones at you.

EXACTLY. The Panthers don't have many needs that would not be improved with a good QB. Lets see, we need 2 DTs, a CB, RG, and QB. Aside from depth on the OLINE, we need time to age more than we need more young players.

OUR QB has a 50 rating. A 50!! Try winning in the NFL with no QB and good DTs.

Since the free agent market for QBs requires that you overpay for other teams' rejects--you get the franchise QB. Heck, if we had finished behind Denver, I would have offered DW to move up.

Ryan Clady, The Golden Calf of Bristol, and Elvis Dumervil plus next years 1st rounder. Thats what I want if we gave them our first. Set the bar high to where its so one sided its ridiculous, then if they give to it then you take it and laugh.

      Agreed.  Unless a DE is a Julius Peppers type, it takes a couple of years to really develope.  I am hoping we can get one to go with Prince and Scourton.  Or another Interior Dlineman might work as well.

      I don't think it's about Bryce's ego. I think it's about Tepper's. Bryce was Tepper's draft pick. Everything that's been done has been to protect the image.  New HC with a shiny contract fired after he loses interest immediately after he supposedly drafted his guy. He can't make an offense for him because he's the QB that fits his style of offense. Bryce's rookie season is one of the worst in history. It was obvious he wasn't ready. He was named starter without any real camp competition. No real preseason reps. Coach keeps playing him despite terrible play.  A new coach and GM are hired on the condition that Bryce is the guy. No searching for a new QB. It's Bryce or else.  Bryce is benched year 2 for multiple games, replaced by Dalton who stunk it up proving he's washed up, then Bryce comes back in after Dalton injures his thumb and finishes the season. Dalton's contract is up, plenty of younger, higher upside FAs available. Dalton is brought back 2 years guaranteed as a "mentor". Jack Plummer, so bad in 24', brought back to camp in 25' and lo and behold, he's still terrible and has no business being on a field.  Other QBs brought in, the most recognizable being Hooker. All those brought in so bad even the PS can't hold them.  And now, after 3 years of bottom tier QB performance, with Dan saying we need to improve our QB room, we bring in a QB that's not passed for over 2500 yards in either of his 2 seasons as a starter, before he's benched and sent to the life of being a backup.  The common denominator in all of this is there's never been any real competition here, even when it was justified. After last year, it's debatable if he's starting QB material. Good moments and horrific moments. From one minute to the next, you don't know what you're gonna get.  So if you ask yourself why some of us feel bringing in KP is a joke, it's because it looks how it's always looked. That everything being done is to prove that David Tepper was right when he made the choice to draft Bryce and everything done since has been to protect that decision. Bringing in another QB with even the potential to challenge Bryce was always out of the question.
